(NARRATOR)>> TODAY ON DETROIT MUSCLE WE'RE STEPPING OUT OF THE NORM WITH A PATINA PAINT JOB ON OUR FOX BODY COBRA "SYDEWINDER". FIND OUT HOW TO GIVE NEW PAINT THAT WEATHERED, DISTRESSED LOOK.

(TOMMY)>> HEY GUYS, TODAY WE'RE SLITHERING BACK ONTO OUR FORD MUSTANG COBRA, "PROJECT SYDEWINDER". SINCE THE CAR IS ALREADY PREPPED, IT'S TIME TO START MASKING IT OFF IN PREPARATION FOR PAINT. YOU MAY REMEMBER FROM THE RENDERING THAT WE'RE WANTING A WEATHERED AND RUSTY LOOK THAT WILL GIVE US THE PATINA FINISH THAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR.

(MARC)>> ONCE WE FINISH MASKING AND WITH THE CAR IN THE BOOTH, TOMMY WILL MIX UP SOME PRIMER AND GIVE THE OLD GIRL A BATH WITH A FEW COATS TO THE BODY AND HOOD SO WE WILL HAVE A GOOD FOUNDATION FOR THE PAINT.

(TOMMY)>> SO WITH THAT SAID TODAY'S KIND OF A FUN DAY. WE'RE GONNA BE GIVING THIS CAR A PATINA FINISH. NOW ONE NICE THING ABOUT DOING IT THIS WAY IS IT SAVES ALL THAT PAIN AND EFFORT THAT YOU'VE GOT TO DO WITH ALL THAT BLOCKING, BUT IT DOES REQUIRE YOU TO THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX JUST A BIT. AND WHENEVER I'M TALKING ABOUT OUTSIDE THE BOX YOU'VE GOT TO THROW IT PLUM OUT THE WINDOW.

(MARC)>> THAT'S RIGHT, AND TO GET IT DONE WE BROUGHT IN A PROFESSIONAL. THIS IS TED SWAN. HE'S WITH SUMMIT RACING, AND IF YOU CAN'T TELL BY HIS GRAY HAIR HE'S GOT A LITTLE MORE EXPERIENCE THAN WE DO.

(TED)>> I'VE ACTUALLY DONE A FEW OF THESE JOBS. WE'RE GONNA DO SOME UNORTHODOX TECHNIQUES TO DELIVER A PATINA PAINT JOB. WE'RE GOING TO DO DISTRESSING AND WE'RE GONNA DO SOME RUST SWORFING TO GIVE IT THAT TIME WARN LOOK.

(MARC)>> YEAH BUT FIRST WE NEED TO FINISH SANDING THIS THING SO WE CAN GET IT IN THE BOOTH.

(TED)>> AND THERE'S A LOT TO DO.

(TOMMY)>> NOW THERE'S A TOOL IN THE BOOTH THAT YOU GUYS DON'T NORMALLY SEE. IT'S THE DANMAR SSSIX. IT'S A PORTABLE LIFT THAT'S GONNA RAISE THE CAR UP ABOUT A FOOT OR SO TO MAKE LIFE A WHOLE LOT EASIER ON US. NOW BEFORE WE GET TO SPRAYING WE'RE GONNA COVER THIS THING WITH PLASTIC TO KEEP IT LOOKING NICE.

(MARC)>> WITH THE CAR IN POSITION WE WILL MASK OFF THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE AND ATTACH THE FRONT FASCIA.

(TOMMY)>> WE'RE FINALLY READY TO SPLASH SOME COLOR ONTO OUR SNEAKY SNAKE BACK THERE IN THE BOOTH, AND TO DO THAT WE WENT TO SUMMIT RACING AND GOT US A WHOLE BUNCH OF GOODIES.

(TED)>> TODAY WE'RE GONNA BE USING SUMMIT RACING'S SINGLE STAGE PAINT IN MULTIPLE COLORS SO THAT WE CAN BUILD UP VARIOUS LAYERS SO THAT WHEN WE DO OUR DISTRESSING TECHNIQUE YOU'RE GONNA BE ABLE TO SEE THE DIFFERENT LAYERS AND HAVE THAT DISTRESSED LOOK THAT WE'RE GOING FOR. THIS IS A SINGLE STAGE PRODUCT THAT ACTUALLY HAS A HARDENER IN IT. IT COULD BE LEFT COMPLETELY ALONE AND YOU WOULD HAVE A FLAT FINISH. WE ARE HOWEVER GOING TO USE SATIN FINISH SUMMIT CLEAR ON THIS PROJECT BECAUSE WE ARE GOING TO DO SOME DISTRESSING TECHNIQUES, LIKE SANDING, AND SCRAPING, AND HAVING SOME FAUX RUST ON THERE. IF YOU WANTED TO HAVE THE CAR AS A SHINIER FINISH WE ALSO HAVE SUMMIT RACING'S FULL GLOSS CLEAR COAT. NOW WHAT WE ARE OFFERING TO OUR CUSTOMERS IS A ONE STOP SHOP WHERE YOU CAN COME TO SUMMIT RACING AND BUY EVERYTHING FROM PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT, TO SPRAY GUNS, TO EVERYTHING THAT YOU'LL NEED TO DO A PAINT JOB. MASKING MATERIAL, AND WE EVEN OFFER A SUMMIT RACING PAINTERS KIT SO THAT YOU HAVE ALL THE MIXING CUPS, GLOVES, MIXING STICKS, STRAINERS THAT PEOPLE GENERALLY FORGET WHEN THEY BUY MATERIAL TO DO A PROJECT LIKE THIS.

(MARC)>> BUT FIRST WE NEED TO MAKE SURE THE PAINT IS PROPERLY SHAKEN, NOT STIRRED.

(TOMMY)>> WE'RE READY TO MIX US UP SOME MATERIAL AND YOU'RE PROBABLY THINKING WE'RE GOING TO BE SPRAYING IT ON. BELIEVE IT OR NOT WE'RE GONNA BE USING A PAINT ROLLER AND SOME BRUSHES BECAUSE WE'RE REALLY NEEDED SOME TEXTURE. AND I KNOW YOU CAN GET SOME TEXTURE OUT OF A GUN, BUT WE NEED A LOT. WE'RE GONNA START OFF WITH SUMMIT RACING RED OXIDE FOR OUR FIRST COLOR COAT.

NOW YOU WILL WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE A LOT OF PAINT ON THE ROLLER SO THAT YOU GET A GOOD, THICK LAYER ON THE CAR.

IN THE TIGHTER AREAS YOU CAN USE A PAINT BRUSH MAKING SURE TO GET A NICE, THICK COAT.

(MARC)>> USUALLY WHEN PAINTING YOU WILL WANT A NICE, UNIFORM SURFACE BUT IN THIS CASE THAT'S THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT WE WANT. THE SLOPPIER THE BETTER SO THAT WE GET THE DESIRED EFFECT THAT WE'RE AFTER.

(TOMMY)>> AS YOU CAN SEE, WE WERE ABLE TO GET THAT ROUGH TEXTURE LAYER THAT WE WERE LOOKING FOR. I'M GONNA FILL UP THE OLD PAINT GUN AND SPRAY ON ONE MORE COAT OF RED OXIDE SO THAT WE'LL HAVE A HEAVY BASE TO WORK WITH. AND WHEN WE GET STARTED SANDING WE WON'T SAND THROUGH UNLESS WE WANT TO.

(NARRATOR)>> UP NEXT, THERE'S A LOT MORE TO DO ON THIS PATINA PAINT JOB AND OUR MAIN COLOR STILL NEEDS TO BE SPRAYED ON.

(MARC)>> HEY EVERYBODY, WELCOME BACK. WE'RE PLUGGING AWAY ON THE PAINT JOB ON OUR FOX BODY MUSTANG, AND THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE BEEN SQUIRMING A LITTLE BIT EARLIER CAUSE WE'VE BEEN USING ROLLERS AND BRUSHES YOU CAN REST EASY CAUSE WE'RE GONNA PUT THESE AWAY. WE'RE GONNA MOVE ON TO THE NEXT STEP, AND MISTER TED'S GONNA TAKE THE REINS. HE'S GONNA BEGIN BY MIXING UP SOME OF SUMMIT RACING'S JET BLACK BASE COAT. THIS IS THE COLOR WE HAVE CHOSEN TO BE THE PRIMARY FOR OUR MUSTANG.

(TED)>> SO WHAT WE'VE DONE SO FAR IS WE'VE APPLIED A FOUNDATION COLOR THAT RESEMBLES RED OXIDE, LIKE ON AN OLDER CAR, WITH TEXTURE BY PUTTING IT ON WITH A BRUSH AND WITH ROLLERS. AND THE TEXTURE'S GONNA BE IMPORTANT FOR WHEN IT COMES TO DISTRESSING THE JOB LATER ON. WE SPRAYED A SECOND COAT ON THERE SO THAT WE HAD ENOUGH FILM BUILD SO THAT WE HAD SOMETHING TO SAND INTO. NOW WE'RE GONNA APPLY THE BLACK PAINT, WHICH IS ACTUALLY THE COLOR THE CAR'S GONNA REALLY BE. SO IT WILL BE A DISTRESSED BLACK PAINT JOB. WE'RE READY TO SPRAY. SO WE'RE GONNA MASK UP AND GET GOING.

(TOMMY)>> NOW WHEN WE SPRAY THE JET BLACK YOU WILL WANT TO USE MORE OF THE UNIFORM AND TRADITIONAL FORM OF PAINTING. NICE EVEN COATS IN ONE SMOOTH PATTERN MAKING SURE TO COVER ALL THE RED OXIDE.

IT'S TIME FOR US TO START DOING SOME HAND SANDING ON OUR MUSTANG. EARLIER WE PAINT ON SOME RED OXIDE WITH A BRUSH, GIVING US A WHOLE BUNCH OF PEAKS AND VALLEYS. THEN WE FOLLOWED IT UP WITH A COUPLE OF COATS OF BLACK. AS WE START SANDING PORTIONS OF THAT RED IS GONNA COME THROUGH, GIVING US THAT ANTIQUE LOOK.

(TED)>> NOW THE PAINT THAT WE'RE USING FOR THIS PROJECT IS ACTUALLY SUMMIT RACING'S LOW VOC PAINT. SO IT IS COMPLIANT AND CAN BE USED IN ANY LOW VOC AREA. IN ADDITION IT'S A TWO COMPONENT PRODUCT. SO IT IS A TRUE URETHANE, MEANING THAT YOU'RE GONNA BE ABLE TO EXPOSE IT TO A LOT OF AUTOMOTIVE CHEMICALS AND HAVE THE RESISTANCE THAT YOU NEED. SO YOUR PAINT'S GONNA LOOK GREAT FOR A LONG TIME.

(TOMMY)>> WE'RE GONNA BE SANDING WITH 320 GRIT PAPER, MAKING SURE THAT THE SURFACE AND PAPER ARE WET. WHEN SANDING YOU WILL WANT TO PUT MEDIUM TO HEAVY PRESSURE ON THE CAR'S SURFACE, SANDING DOWN UNTIL THE RED OXIDE STARTS PEAKING THROUGH.

(MARC)>> WHEN SANDING YOU WILL WANT TO MAKE SURE TO SAND IN MULTIPLE DIRECTIONS TO HELP WITH THE DISTRESSING. A LITTLE ELBOW GREASE AND MAN, WE MADE THIS THING LOOK LIKE SHE'S BEEN SITTING IN THE OLD JUNKYARD FOR 20 YEARS.

(TOMMY)>> WHEN IT COMES TO BRAKE PADS THERE'S SEVERAL FACTORS YOU NEED TO CONSIDER TO PICK THE RIGHT ONE FOR YOUR APPLICATION. WHAT KIND OF CAR YOU'RE DRIVING? WHAT'S YOUR DRIVING STYLE, AND IF YOU'RE GONNA BE HAULING SOME HEAVY LOADS? BUT EITHER WAY EBC HAS THE RIGHT ONE FOR YOUR APPLICATION AND YOU CAN IDENTIFY THEM BY THE COLOR. LET'S START OFF WITH THEIR ORANGE PADS. THIS IS THEIR EXTRA DUTY PAD, WHICH IS GREAT FOR YOU GUYS THAT HAVE A TOW RIG THAT SERVES A DUAL PURPOSE. HAULING YOUR TOYS AROUND AND HAULING YOU BACK AND FORTH TO WORK. THESE ARE MADE OF A MATERIAL TO GIVE YOU A FADE FREE GRIP UNDER A WIDE RANGE OF BRAKE TEMPERATURES. THEY ALSO HAVE THESE HIGH VOLUME VGROOVES THAT HELP REMOVE DIRT AND DEBRIS AS WELL AS AID IN COOLING. OKAY, I KNOW NOT EVERYONE HAS A TOW RIG. SO LET'S TALK ABOUT YOUR EVERYDAY CAR. A PAD YOU MIGHT WANT TO CHECK OUT IS EBC'S ULTIMAX TWO. THEY DESIGNED IT TO GIVE YOU LONG SERVICE WITHOUT EXCESSIVE WEAR TO THE BRAKE DISC OR ROTOR, AND ITS ENGINEERED TO ONLY GENERATE A MINIMAL AMOUNT OF BRAKE DUST WITH QUIET STOPPING POWER. WE'VE ALL SEEN THOSE CARS RIDING AROUND WITH THOSE BROWN BLACKISH WHEELS ON THEM LOOKING LIKE THEY'RE IN NEED OF A GOOD CLEANING. YOU DON'T WANT TO BE ONE OF THOSE GUYS. SO IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A HIGH QUALITY BRAKE PAD WITHOUT THAT HIGH PRICE YOU MIGHT WANT TO CHECK THIS ONE OUT. ALL RIGHT, WE'VE TALKED ABOUT YOUR HAULER. WE'VE TALKED ABOUT YOUR DAILY DRIVER. NOW LET'S TALK ABOUT YOUR FUN HAVING, STRESS RELIEVING MECHANICAL BALL OF JOY, YOUR BABY! A THING THAT MAY BE RIGHT UP YOUR ALLEY IS THE EBC RED STUFF CERAMIC BRAKE PAD. THEY DESIGNED IT TO ACCOMMODATE ON AND OFF BRAKE PEDAL USE WITHOUT BRAKE FALL OFF, WHICH CAN BE A PROBLEM WHEN YOU GET A LITTLE AGGRESSIVE ON THE STREETS, AND IF YOU'RE WORRIED ABOUT BRAKE DUST ON THOSE FANCY WHEELS THEY HAVE YOU COVERED THERE TOO. IT'S THEIR LOWEST DUST FAST STREET PAD. EBC CALLS THIS THEIR FLAGSHIP, STREET BRAKE PAD. IF YOU WANT TO TAKE THINGS EVEN FURTHER EBC ALSO OFFERS BRAKE ROTORS. THESE ROTORS HAVE A BLACK THERMO COATING THAT HELP RESIST RUST AND CORROSION. THEY ALSO HAVE DIMPLES AND SLOTS. THE DIMPLES HELP DEGAS THE PAD, AND IF YOU NOTICE THERE'S NO THROUGH HOLES. THROUGH HOLES HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO CAUSE A ROTOR TO CRACK. AS FOR THE SLOTS THEY HELP TO WIPE AWAY THE SURFACE AND KEEP EVERYTHING NICE AND CLEAN, AND THEY ALSO HELP TO KEEP THE SURFACE NICE AND COOL. I'VE MENTIONED A FEW TIMES THE TERM BRAKE FADE, AND FOR THOSE OF YOU OUT THERE THAT DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT TERM MEANS LET ME EXPLAIN IT FOR YOU. WHAT'S HAPPENING IS AS YOU START WORKING THE BRAKES, WHETHER OR NOT IT'S AT A HIGH SPEED OR YOU'RE PULLING A HEAVY LOAD OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT, YOUR BRAKE STARTS TO HEAT UP, AND THERE'S A GAS THAT FORMS IN BETWEEN THE BRAKE SURFACE AND THE BRAKE PAD. IN THIS SITUATION YOUR STOPPING POWER IS GREATLY DECREASED. BRAKE COMPONENT CAN'T HANDLE IT AND CAN BE DAMAGED, OR EVEN WORSE, FAIL! EBC'S WORKED HARD WITH RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT TOWARD THE DIRECTION OF ELIMINATING AND ADDRESSING THIS ISSUE. SO IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR BRAKE PARTS YOU MIGHT LOOK AT EBC.

(NARRATOR)>> AFTER THE BREAK WE'LL BUST OUT THE AIR BRUSH AND MAKE SOME FAKE RUST!

(TOMMY)>> HEY Y'ALL, WELCOME BACK. WELL OUR MUSTANG PROJECT IS WELL ON ITS WAY WITH THIS PATINA PAINT JOB THAT WE'RE AFTER. NOW THE NEXT THING WE'RE GONNA BE DOING IS PAINTING ON SOME RUST. YEAH, I KNOW, SOME RUST, AND TO DO THAT WE'RE GONNA BE USING SOME OF THE SUMMIT PAINT THAT WE SOWED YOU EARLIER. WE'VE GOT SOME BROWN THAT WE MIXED UP, BLACK, AND SOME ORANGE. NOW TO DO THIS IT DOESN'T TAKE A WHOLE LOT OF CRAZY TOOLS IN ALL REALITY. YOU JUST NEED SOME CREATIVITY AND A COUPLE OF BRUSHES. OUR FIRST BRUSH THAT WE'RE GONNA USE IS JUST A STANDARD OLD ACID BRUSH, BUT WE'RE GONNA KIND OF SCREW IT UP A BIT. YOU WANT TO TAKE THIS RAZOR BLADE AND CUT SOME OF THE BRISTLES OUT OF IT.

NOW I'M GONNA TAKE THIS THING AND MASH IT HERE ON THE TABLE. I'M TRYING TO MAKE THE BRISTLES GET ALL CRAZY CAUSE YOU DON'T WANT THEM TO LAY NICE AND FLAT. YOU NEED THAT DISTORTION IF YOU WILL. YEAH, THAT'S ABOUT RIGHT. I'M GONNA START BY POURING A LITTLE BIT OF EACH COLOR ONTO A PALATE TO MAKE IT EASIER TO WORK WITH. THEN WE WILL TAPE OFF AND MASK AROUND THE AREA THAT WE'RE WANTING TO ADD THE RUST SO THAT WE DON'T SPILL ON TO OUR NEW PAINT.

NOW WE'RE JUST TRYING TO GET PAINT ON THE TIP OF THE BRUSH, NOT ALL LOADED UP ONTO IT. WE'LL START OUT WITH OUR JET BLACK AND JUST SLIGHTLY BLOT IT ONTO THE SURFACE OF THE CAR. NOW WE'RE BACK TO THE BROWN. MAKE SURE YOU'RE JUST GETTING THE VERY TIP OF THE BRUSH WET. YOU DON'T WANT TOO MUCH PAINT ON THE BRUSH.

NOW IF YOU'LL NOTICE, THAT BROWN AND BLACK IS STARTING TO MIX ON THE PANEL GIVING YOU ALL DIFFERENT KIND OF COLORS. THAT'S KIND OF WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR CAUSE RUST ISN'T ONE SOLID COLOR. THE FINAL COLOR IS OUR ORANGE, AND WE WILL KEEP WORKING THE PAINT BY REPEATING THE PROCESS UNTIL WE GET THE DESIRED LOOK. REMEMBER YOU CAN BE AS CREATIVE AND WILD AS YOU WANT USING DIFFERENT TYPES OF BRUSHES AND TECHNIQUES. YOU CAN LET THE INNER BOB ROSS FLOW. REAL COOL THING ABOUT DOING THIS TYPE OF THING IS THAT THERE'S NOT WRONG OR RIGHT WAY TO DO IT. NOW WE'RE GONNA DO IT IN A FEW OF THE PLACES THAT THESE CARS NORMALLY RUST. BOTTOM OF THE DOORS, ROCKERS, THAT KIND OF THING, AND THEN TED'S GONNA COME IN AND SHOW YOU ANOTHER TECHNIQUE TO MAKE THIS LOOK EVEN MORE REALISTIC.

THERE YOU GO.

(TED)>> SO EARLIER TOM HAD DONE A REAL NICE JOB OF PUTTING RUST ON THE CAR, AND HE USED BLACK, BROWN, AND ORANGE WITH A BRUSH AND BUILT IT UP BY ACTUALLY DABBING IT ON THERE. WHEN YOU LOOK AT REAL RUST, RUST TYPICALLY HAS A TRAIL AS OBSERVED HERE. THE WAY WE MIMIC THE TRAIL WAS TO ACTUALLY TAKE THE COLORS THAT WE HAD DABBED ON THERE AND SPRAYED IT OUT OF AN AIR BRUSH. JUST SOME LINES. WE ALSO ADDED, FOR SOME EXTRA REALISM, A LITTLE BIT OF BLUE METALLIC. IF YOU LOOK AT A RUST TRAIL ON A CAR IT TYPICALLY HAS A LITTLE BIT OF IRON OXIDE PARTICLES IN IT, OR THE RUST, AND SLIGHT BLUENESS TO IT. SO WE TOOK A LITTLE BIT OF BLUE METALLIC AND SHADED IT ON THERE IN A COUPLE OF LINES JUST TO GIVE A MORE REALISTIC RENDITION OF WHAT RUST ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE ON A CAR.

(MARC)>> WE WANT TO PUT OUR STAMP ON THE CAR. SO TOM AIR BRUSHED THE NAME AND OUR LOGO ON THE CAR, MAKING SURE TO GIVE IT THAT DISTRESSED AND WEATHERED LOOK.

DON'T FORGET THE NAME OF THE SHOW.

FINALLY TED WILL LAY DOWN TWO COATS OF SUMMIT RACING'S LOW VOC SATIN CLEAR COAT TO PROTECT OUR CAR'S BEAUTIFUL ARTWORK. [ spray gun hissing ]

(MARC)>> WE'VE ALSO PAINTED THE FENDER FLARES BLACK, AND THEY'LL GET A COUPLE OF COATS OF CLEAR AS WELL.

(TOMMY)>> OUR DISTRESSED LOOK CAME OUT PRETTY DARN GOOD. IF YOU DIDN'T KNOW ANY BETTER YOU'D THINK THIS THING WAS SITTING OUT IN THE ELEMENTS FOR A COUPLE OF DECADES.

SO THERE YOU GO FOLKS. CHECK HER OUT! NOW SOME OF THE MEASURES WE TOOK WERE A LITTLE BIT PRIMITIVE BUT THIS THING ROCKS.

(TED)>> AND YOU COULD USE THE SAME TECHNIQUES WE USED ON THIS CAR WITH SUMMIT RACING PAINT ON YOUR OWN PROJECT.

(TOMMY)>> OIL LEAKS ARE VERY COMMON IN OLDER CARS BECAUSE GASKETS AND SEALS TEND TO SHRINK AND HARDEN OVER TIME. IF YOUR ENGINE'S LEAKING YOU MAY WANT TO CHECK OUT BARS LEAKS FOR THEIR LINE OF REPAIR PRODUCTS. BARS LEAKS CONCENTRATED REAR MAIN SEAL REPAIR IS SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED TO SEAL REAR MAIN LEAKS, BUT IT ALSO WORKS BETTER THAN CONVENTIONAL STOP LEAK ON OTHER ENGINE LEAKAGE. BUT IF YOU'RE NEEDING A PROFESSIONAL SYNTHETIC STOP LEAK THEN YOU'LL WANT TO PICK UP BARS LEAKS OSONE. THIS IS THEIR STRONGEST FORMULA THAT REVITALIZES WARN SEALS AND GASKETS TO LIKE NEW PERFORMANCE. IT ALSO STOPS ALL OIL LEAKS FROM REAR MAINS TO VALVE COVERS, AND BOTH OF THESE PRODUCTS ARE ENGINEERED TO WORK WITH GASOLINE AND DIESEL ENGINES.

(NARRATOR)>> STILL AHEAD AN EASY POWER UPGRADE FOR LATE MODEL MUSTANGS.

(TOMMY)>> HEY Y'ALL, WELCOME BACK TO DETROIT MUSCLE. NOW WE'VE BEEN HITTING PRETTY HOT AND HEAVY ON OUR FOX BODY AND WE FINALLY GOT THE PAINT JOB ALL FINISHED UP. NOW WE'RE GONNA HOLD OFF ON IT FOR JUST A BIT AND FLIP OVER TO ONE OF THESE NEW MODELS. NOW FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT HAVE ONE OF THOSE SITTING IN YOUR DRIVEWAY WE'VE GOT SOMETHING THAT MAY INTEREST YOU. THIS IS THE BDX PERFORMANCE PROGRAMMER FROM SCT. IT'S DYNO PROVEN WITH POWER GAINS OF 31 PLUS ON YOUR HORSEPOWER AND TORQUE. IT'S A CINCH TO INSTALL AND HAS A LOT OF FEATURES TO IT. SO LET'S GO AHEAD AND GET IT HOOKED UP. FIRST THING YOU WANT TO DO IS PLUG IN YOUR FAT END OF YOUR CORD TO THE OBD TWO PORT, AND THEN THE SMALLER END INTO YOUR HAND HELD. WAIT FOR IT TO POWER ON. NOW WE'RE READY TO PROGRAM THE VEHICLE. YOU JUST PUSH THIS CENTER BUTTON. NOW THIS IS ONE OF THE ADDED BENEFITS OF THIS HAND HELD. IT HAS WIFI CAPABILITIES. SO THERE'S NO NEED FOR AN AUXILIARY COMPUTER AND A WHOLE BUNCH OF CORD. NOW YOU JUST SELECT THE WIFI YOU WANT TO USE, PUT IN A PASSWORD, AND MOVE ON. ONCE THE DEVICE IS CONNECTED THE PROGRAMMER WILL DOWNLOAD THE LATEST SOFTWARE VERSION FOR THE TUNER. WITH YOU CONNECTED TO WIFI AND YOUR UPDATES DONE IT'S GONNA SEND YOU BACK TO THE MAIN MENU. PRESS PROGRAM VEHICLE, AND THEN IT'S GONNA GIVE YOU THIS SCREEN. THIS SCREEN GIVES YOU YOUR VIN NUMBER. IF IT MATCHES WHAT YOUR CAR IS WELL YOU'RE READY TO MOVE ON. IT JUST VERIFIES THAT YOU'RE WORKING ON THE RIGHT VEHICLE. WITH OUR VEHICLE VERIFIED IT'LL BRING YOU TO THIS SCREEN. NOW THIS IS THE CLOUD SYNC. THIS IS A PRETTY COOL FEATURE. WHAT IT DOES IS IT ALLOWS YOU TO RETRIEVE CUSTOM TUNES FROM A DEALER AND ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS PULL THEM DOWN AND IT'LL STORE THEM INTO YOUR DEVICE. AND IT WILL STORE UP TO 20 TUNES. NOW WE'RE NOT USING A CUSTOM TUNE ON OUR APPLICATION. SO WE'RE JUST GONNA SKIP IT. NOW IT PROMPTS YOU TO TURN THE KEY ON OR HOLD IT ON FOR TWO TO THREE SECONDS. SO THAT'S WHAT WE'RE GONNA DO. NOW DURING THIS PROCESS THE CAR MAY START DINGING SOME THAT YOU'RE NOT USED TO BUT THAT'S JUST NORMAL. NOW THIS THING IS PROCESSING, UPLOADING YOUR TUNE. NOW THIS PROCESS CAN TAKE 10 MINUTES TO 30 MINUTES DEPENDING ON YOUR WIFI CONNECTION. WELL THAT'S ALL THERE IS TO IT. THE ONLY LEFT WE NEED TO DO IS GO OUT AND ENJOY THIS THING. AND LET'S SAY A LITTLE LATER DOWN THE ROAD A PERSON WANTED TO RETURN IT BACK TO STOCK. WELL YOU CAN. THIS THING STORED YOUR FACTORY TUNE. YOU JUST HAVE TO REFLASH IT. WE ALL KNOW THE POTENTIAL DANGER OF MESSING WITH FUEL SYSTEM COMPONENTS THAT ARE OLD AND BEEN EXPOSED TO GASOLINE. NOW ON OUR FOX BODY WE'RE GONNA HAVE TO CHANGE IT UP A BIT BECAUSE OF THAT POWER LEVEL, AND I KNOW WITH A GAS TANK, YOU CAN CLEAN THEM UP BUT THAT'S A WHOLE LOT OF EFFORT. SO TO SAVE US THAT WE WENT TO ROCK AUTO DOT COM AND GOT US A WHOLE BUNCH OF GOODIES, INCLUDING THE TANK, STRAP, SENDER, AND THESE LITTLE BOLTS. NOW I KNOW THEY DON'T LOOK LIKE MUCH BUT THEY CAN BE A BEAR TO GET OFF BECAUSE THEY'RE ALL CORRODED UP. SPENDING A COUPLE OF BUCKS CAN SAVE YOU A WHOLE LOT OF EFFORT. AND SPEAKING OF EFFORT, HAVE YOU EVER TRIED TO PUT ONE OF THESE ON THAT IS ALL OLD, AND HARD, AND BRITTLE? BUYING A NEW ONE CAN SAVE YOU SOME TIME. NOW WE'RE NOT READY TO INSTALL ALL THIS YET, BUT WHEN WE ARE WE'LL BE READY TO ROCK. IF YOU'RE WORKING ON RESTORING A '68 OR '69 BUICK SKYLARK AND YOUR DASH PAD'S ALL BUSTED UP AND CRACKED YOU NEED TO CHECK OUT OPGI. THEIR REPRODUCTION DASH PADS ARE MANUFACTURED TO MEET OR EXCEED OEM SPECIFICATIONS. IT HAS A RIGID FIBERGLASS CORE AND IS WRAPPED IN FACTORY VINYL WITH CORRECT GRAIN PATTERN AND COLOR CODES. IT'S AVAILABLE FOR CARS WITH AND WITHOUT A/C, AND COMES WITH ALL THE HARDWARE FOR EASY INSTALLATION. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT WHAT YOU'VE SEEN ON TODAY'S SHOW GO TO POWERNATION TV DOT COM. WE'RE ALL OUT OF TIME FOR TODAY GUYS. SO UNTIL NEXT TIME Y'ALL KEEP IT BETWEEN THE DITCHES.
