Project Budget Baller starts with a tired 2011 Lexus IS 250 that has seen plenty of miles but still has plenty of potential. Brian and Jason set out to turn this worn luxury coupe into a sharp daily driver that looks expensive without breaking the bank.
The challenge was simple. Every job had to be done using tools found in most home garages, and each episode followed a 48 hour clock to show what could be finished over one weekend before heading back to work on Monday.
Early track testing showed the Lexus needed help in the corners and under braking. Brian and Jason upgraded the brakes and suspension, giving the car better control and a much more confident feel on the road. A round of basic maintenance also brought the reliability up to the standard needed for daily driving.
The performance upgrades continued with new resonators and mufflers for a stronger exhaust note, a cold air kit, and Continental tires. These changes gave the IS 250 more attitude while keeping it ready for the daily commute.
Then it was time for the look. A body kit sourced from China reshaped the front and rear to resemble a newer 2024 IS 500, complete with LED lighting. Aftermarket wheels and window tint finished the clean, modern style.
Inside, the factory stereo gave way to a full infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity, CarPlay, Android Auto, and an LCD touchscreen. What began as a worn luxury coupe is now a Budget Baller that is ready for work during the week and attention wherever it goes.
