(ANNOUNCER)>> THE SHAKER HOOD IS SYNONYMOUS WITH MOPAR PERFORMANCE. AND TODAY ON DETROIT MUSCLE WE'LL SHOW YOU HOW TO CUSTOM BUILD ONE FOR OUR HIGHLY MODIFIED CHALLENGER. THEN WE'LL SHOW YOU HOW TO INSTALL A RETROFIT STEERING COLUMN. ( )>> MY WIFE HATES THEM BUT I LOVE THEM.

(ANNOUNCER)>> AND THEN YOU'LL MEET AN AUTO

CUSTOMIZER WHO WORKS WITH A DIFFERENT KIND OF CAR.

(JOE)>> IN THE GLORY DAYS OF DETROIT MUSCLE, HOODS NOT ONLY COVERED HIGH PERFORMANCE ENGINES, THEY MADE A STATEMENT. A FUNCTIONAL ONE WHEN THEY SCOOPED UP COLD AIR.

THIS AMC HAD A MASSIVE RAM AIR SCOOP MOUNTED TO ITS HOOD THAT WAS PRETTY EFFICIENT. AND WE ASSUME THE BUILT IN TACH WAS TOO. AND THIS SCRAMBLER SCOOP, WELL NEVER MIND. HOW ABOUT THIS ROAD RUNNER. A FAIRLY PLAIN HOOD UNTIL YOU FLIPPED A SWITCH TO REVEAL A MEAN AIR GRABBER WITH TEETH. BUT BY FAR THE MOST ICONIC HOOD BELONGED TO CUDAS AND CHALLENGERS THAT SPORTED THE FUNCTIONAL AND FAMOUS SHAKER. AS FOR OUR OWN MOPAR PROJECT ULTRA VIOLET, A 1970 CHALLENGER THAT WE'VE BEEN GIVING THE HEMI TREATMENT, WELL WE SAID FROM THE START IT'S BEEN

DESTINED TO HAVE A SHAKER OF ITS OWN. LIKE THE ONE SITTING ON THIS CHALLENGER'S 440 SIX PACK. OF ALL THE FOUR HOOD OPTIONS OF 1970, NO DOUBT ABOUT IT, SHAKER TAKES THE COOL FACTOR CAKE.

(TOMMY)>> JUST IN CASE YOU'VE BEEN LIVING UP UNDER A ROCK AND DON'T KNOW WHY THAT SCOOP HAS GOT THE NAME SHAKER, THIS IS WHY.

(JOE)>> NOW SINCE WE WANT OUR CHALLENGER HOOD TO SHAKE LIKE THAT, AND SHAKER HOOD PARTS ARE KINDA HARD TO FIND WE HEAR, WE FIGURED TED STEPHENS WOULD BE THE MAN TO HELP OUT.

(TED)>> WE OUGHT TO BE ABLE TO FILL IN SOME OF THE BLANKS ON SOME OF THE MISSING PARTS HERE AND WE'LL HAVE A LITTLE LESSON ON HOW THIS THING WORKS.

(JOE)>> MAN I'M EXCITED.

(TOMMY)>> STEPHEN'S PERFORMANCE IN ANDERSON, ALABAMA, IS AN ALL MOPAR RESTORATION RESOURCE THAT DEALS IN REPOPPED PIECES AS WELL AS NEW OLD STOCK. IF YOU NEED A PIECE FOR YOUR PLYMOUTH, DODGE, OR CHRYSLER, THEY'VE GOT IT BECAUSE IN ADDITION TO REMANED PARTS, THEY ALSO OPERATE THE WORLD'S LARGEST MOPAR SALVAGE YARD WITH 60 ACRES OF CARS TO RESOURCE FROM. WE'VE SWITCHED CARS ON YOU GUYS TO THIS YET TO BE RESTORED CUDA. AND THIS THING BEING A HEMI, WELL IT'S A PRETTY CLOSE REPRESENTATION OF WHAT WE'RE GONNA BE DOING ON ULTRAVIOLET.

(TED)>> THE SHAKER HOOD WAS OPTIONAL ON THE

CHALLENGER WITH THE HEMI, STANDARD ON THE CUDA WITH THE HEMI. THE FLAPS INSIDE THE SHAKER SCOOP, WHICH ALLOW THE COLD AIR IN, ARE OPERATED BY A CABLE THAT HAS A HANDLE INSIDE THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT.

WE'RE GONNA SHOW YOU HOW THIS THING OPERATES. IT'S A SIMPLY CABLE OPERATED SYSTEM. PULL THE CABLE FROM INSIDE THE CAR IS CONNECTED TO THIS CABLE WITH A BELL CRANK ON THE SIDE OF THE ADAPTER RING. THIS IS ACTUALLY IN THE HOT POSITION HERE, OR WITH THE COLD DOOR CLOSED. THEN WHEN YOU PULL THE CABLE, SWITCHES IT, CLOSES THE HOT DOOR, OPENS THE COLD DOOR.

(TOMMY)>> SO WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY HOT DOOR?

(TED)>> WELL THE HOT DOOR IS WHERE IT BREATHES WHEN THE SHAKER SCOOP IS CLOSED. IT WORKS OFF OF A CABLE, OPENS THAT FLAP UP, BREATHES THROUGH A HOLE IN THE ADAPTER RING.

(TOMMY)>> SO THIS IS JUST A BIG FLAP FOR

THE FRESH AIR SIDE?

(TED)>> CORRECT, AND THAT'S CALLED THE COLD DOOR. THERE'S A COUPLE OF HOLES IN THE BOTTOM OF THE SHAKER SCOOP WHERE THE WATER COLLECTS, DRAINS THROUGH THESE HOLES AND OUT THESE DRAIN HOSES.

(JOE)>> REGARDLESS OF THE CAR WRAPPED AROUND IT, A STANDARD HEMI CARB EQUIPMENT WAS THIS DUAL QUAD CARTER SETUP. THE TRICK IS THAT THE THROATS ON THESE ARE SMALLER THAN THE ONES ON OUR DUAL THROTTLE BODIES, AND OUR ENGINE'S BEEN MOVED BACK. SO WE'LL HAVE TO MODIFY AN AFTERMARKET BASE PLATE TO MAKE IT WORK. DURING THE SHAKER SERMON I WAS BUSY BACK IN THE STEPHEN'S PERFORMANCE INVENTORY AND CHECK OUT WHAT I GOT. HARD TO FIND BACK SEAT FOR THE CHALLENGER, REFURBISHED HOOD HINGES, SIDE MIRRORS, AND HEY, WHAT DO YOU GOT BUDDY?

(TOMMY)>> I GOT ONE OF THOSE SWEET SHAKERS

THAT EVERYBODY WANTS. SO I'VE BEEN BUSY TOO, SO GET OFF MY BACK.

(JOE)>> OKAY, WELL LET'S LOAD THIS STUFF UP AND HEAD'EM ON AND GET'EM OUT.

(TOMMY)>> YES SIR.

(JOE)>> WHERE WE GOING?

(TOMMY)>> I'M GOING THIS WAY.

(JOE)>> YEAH, THESE ARE GONNA WORK FINE.

WELL OUR CHALLENGER NOW HAS HINGES FOR THE HOOD. AS FAR AS THE SHAKER GOES, WELL THAT'S GONNA BE A LOT MORE COMPLEX, ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING OUR ENGINE AND INTAKE COMBINATION.

(TOMMY)>> YEAH, WE'VE GOT A COUPLE OF PRETTY BIG PROBLEMS. ONE OF THEM, WELL THE THROTTLE BODIES ARE TOO FAR APART TO FIT THIS STOCK LOOKING BASE PLATE. AND THE ENGINE'S BEEN MOVED BACK AND DOWN TO MAKE THE CAR HANDLE BETTER. BUT WHAT THAT DID IS CHANGE THE LOCATION OF THE SHAKER. SO THAT'S GONNA BIT A PRETTY BIG TASK MAKING ALL THIS STUFF WORK.

(JOE)>> NOW BOTTOM LINE IS IT'S ALL GOT TO FIT IN HERE. THIS IS A REPRODUCTION HOOD FROM CLASSIC INDUSTRIES WITH THE SHAKER HOLE ALREADY CUT OUT OF, ALONG WITH BOLT HOLES.

(TOMMY)>> NOW FOR THE MOMENT OF TRUTH. WE NEED TO USE THE HOOD TO POSITION THE SHAKER ASSEMBLY ON THE TOP OF THE ENGINE. ONCE WE GET EVERYTHING IN PLACE, IT WILL TELL US JUST HOW EXTENSIVELY WE NEED TO MODIFY THE BASE PLATE TO MAKE EVERYTHING WORK.

(JOE)>> AND ON ANOTHER NOTE, REMEMBER, THIS IS JUST AN AFTERMARKET BASE PLATE. THERE'S NO WAY IN HECK YOU'D WANT TO MODIFY AN ORIGINAL HEMI PIECE TO MAKE IT WORK. SO HEY, DON'T SEND US ANY EMAILS YELLING AT US, ALRIGHT.

(TOMMY)>> WELL LET'S SEE HOW FAR OFF WE ARE JOE.

(JOE)>> ALRIGHT, HERE WE GO.

(TOMMY)>> THAT'S A PRETTY DECENT AMOUNT.

(JOE)>> I'D SAY SO.

(ANNOUNCER)>> STILL AHEAD IT'S MODIFYING THAT SHAKER BASE PLATE TO WORK WITH ALL THOSE CUSTOM COMPONENTS TO MAKE SURE IT LOOKS GOOD AND WORKS GREAT.

THEN WE'LL VISIT WITH A GUY THAT DEALS IN WHAT YOU MIGHT CALL SUBCOMPACTS.

(JOE)>> WE ARE BACK. TOMMY'S GETTING READY TO FAB UP A SOLUTION TO OUR SHAKER FITMENT ISSUES. FIRST I'M GONNA DO A LITTLE TWEAKING ON OUR BASE PLATE THAT'LL HELP US OUT NOW AND DOWN THE ROAD. THIS THING IS ACTUALLY TWO PLATES IN ONE. THE INNER PLATE IS STATIONARY BUT WE CAN MOVE THE OUTER PLATE AROUND IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS. IT'S ALL THANKS TO THIS CRANKY LONG WASHER HERE AND THE SQUARE HOLE. NOW THE IDEA IS TO GET ABOUT A QUARTER INCH OF ROOM ALL AROUND THE STUD THAT WILL MAXIMIZE OUR ADJUSTMENT POTENTIAL. AND ONCE YOU'VE GOT ENOUGH ALL THE WAY AROUND, YOU CAN GO AHEAD AND TIGHTEN DOWN THE NUTS.

(TOMMY)>> WE STILL HAVE TO TIE THE SHAKER TO THE THROTTLE BODIES. AND THE WAY WE'RE GONNA DO THAT, WE'RE GONNA MAKE A COUPLE OF SHEET METAL RINGS, CUT A BIG HOLE RIGHT HERE WHERE IT NEEDS TO GO, PUT THEM RINGS IN PLACE, TACK WELD THE BASE PLATE TO THE RINGS, AND FILL UP ALL OF OUR BIG GAPS. IT'S THAT SIMPLE.

(JOE)>> SIMPLE?

(TOMMY)>> WITH A COUPLE OF STRIPS CUT OUT, EACH AROUND THREE INCHES WIDE BY ABOUT 17 INCHES LONG, WE CAN BEGIN USING THE SLIP ROLLER TO SHAPE THEM INTO RINGS THAT WILL SERVE AS THROTTLE BODY MOUNTS. WE'LL MAKE SEVERAL PASSES THROUGH THE ROLLER, TIGHTENING IT DOWN A LITTLE EACH TIME TO MAKE THE CURVE ON THE STEEL SHARPER. IF YOU DON'T HAVE ACCESS TO A SLIP ROLLER, YOU CAN USE SOMETHING ROUND LIKE A COFFEE CAN, OR SHOOT, ONE OF THOSE CHRISTMAS COOKIE TINS, TO FORM THE SHAPE OF YOUR RINGS. WE JUST ABOUT GOT OUR RINGS MADE AND WHAT YOU'RE

LOOKING FOR IS A FIVE AND AN EIGHTH INCH DIAMETER. NOW IF YOU GET THEM CLOSE THAT'S COOL. YOU CAN JUST BEND THAT THING UP, PUT YOU A CLAMP

ON IT, MEASURE IT, SEE HOW MUCH MORE YOU NEED TO GO IF ANY. NOW WE'RE RIGHT AT FIVE AND THREESIXTEENTHS, SO

WE NEED TO TIGHTEN IT UP ABOUT A SIXTEENTH. AND YOU WANT TO MAKE SURE TO MEASURE THIS ON THE INSIDE AND NOT THE OUT.

THAT'S HER!

(JOE)>> SLICING THROUGH BOTH LAYERS LIKE THIS ALLOWS YOU TO BUTT UP THE ENDS OF THE RING AND WELD THEM TOGETHER. BE SURE TO CLAMP THEM TOGETHER SO YOUR RING STAYS IN PROPER SHAPE WHILE YOU WELD.

(TOMMY)>> WITH IT WELDED TOGETHER, WE CAN GO AHEAD AND DRESS IT UP REAL QUICK LIKE WITH A GRINDER.

GET IT LINED BACK UP?

(JOE)>> YES INDEED, LET'S TRADE.

(TOMMY)>> ALRIGHT.

(JOE)>> NOW IF WE TAKE THESE AND LINE THEM UP OVER THE THROTTLE BODIES AND MAKE MARKS, WE'LL KNOW EXACTLY WHERE TO CUT.

(TOMMY)>> JOE GOT EXACTLY WHERE WE NEED TO CUT ALL MAPPED OUT. NOW WE JUST NEED TO GRAB HIS BODY SAW AND GET TO CUTTING.

(JOE)>> NOW CUTTING OUT A BIG CHUNK WILL BE EASIER AND FASTER IN THE LONG RUN. YOU COULD WHITTLE AT IT IN SMALL PIECES. BUT SINCE YOU'RE NOT SKIPPING AROUND ANY BRACES OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT, YOU CAN JUST CHOP IT OUT. THE SPOT WELDS THAT HOLD ON THESE BRACKETS NEED TO BE DRILLED OUT SINCE THEY'LL BE RELOCATED TO

HOLD THE PLATE IN PLACE. THERE'S GONNA BE SOME WELDING INVOLVED. SO KNOCK THE PAINT OFF THE AREA THAT'S GETTING WELDED. OH, AND DON'T FORGET THE BACK SIDE.

(TOMMY)>> NOW WE CAN TAKE THE PLATE AND CHECK IT TO SEE HOW WELL IT FITS TO THE THROTTLE BODY. TURNS OUT WE'RE IN GOOD SHAPE, LEFT TO RIGHT, FRONT TO BACK, BUT VERTICALLY, WELL SHE NEEDS A LITTLE MORE WORK. WELL WE'RE DEFINITELY GETTING CLOSER BUT THE SHAKER STILL NEEDS TO COME UP JUST A LITTLE BIT, ABOUT A HALF INCH IN THE FRONT AND THREE QUARTERS IN THE BACK. CAUSE ORIGINALLY IT'S GOT A WEATHER STRIP THAT GOES AROUND THAT BASE AND WE WANT IT TO SEAL OFF PROPERLY.

(JOE)>> WE'LL USE SOME WOODEN BLOCKS TO SHIM THE

ASSEMBLY UP TO THE PROPER HEIGHT. THEN WE CAN TACK THE RINGS WE MADE TO THE BASE ONCE WE KNOW THE PLACEMENT IS CORRECT.

(TOMMY)>> WITH OUR RINGS TACKED INTO POSITION, I NEED TO FILL THIS BIG HOLE, AND THE WAY I'M

GONNA DO THAT IS I FABBED UP THIS LITTLE PIECE OF METAL. THAT'S SIMPLY GONNA SLIDE OVER TOP OF THE RING AND BE WELDED INTO PLACE. [ welder crackling ]

(TOMMY)>> ON THE BACK SIDE HERE A COUPLE OF PIECES WILL FILL IN THE GAPS THAT THE BIG ONE DIDN'T QUITE COVER.

WITH EVERYTHING BURNED IN, THE TOPS OF THE RINGS CAN

BE CUT OFF TO BRING THEM DOWN LEVEL WITH THE PLATE. THEN WE'LL GRIND DOWN EVERYTHING NICE AND FLAT

SO THAT WE DON'T INTERRUPT THE AIR FLOW INTO THE THROTTLE BODY. A COUPLE OF WASHERS WILL ACT AS SHIMS FOR THE CROSS BAR, WHICH WE NEED TO BRING UP JUST A BIT SO THE LIP ON THE THROTTLE BODIES CAN BE INSERTED INTO THE TUBES AND SEAT CORRECTLY.

WELL THAT PRETTY MUCH TAKES CARE OF THE BASE PLATE. WHAT DO YOU THINK JOE?

(JOE)>> EXCELLENT WORK MY MAN, EXCELLENT WORK. NOW YOU MIGHT HAVE NOTICED IN THE PAST FEW MINUTES THIS STEERING COLUMN POKING OUT OF THE FIREWALL. WHEN WE COME BACK WE'LL BACKTRACK AND SHOW YOU HOW WE MADE IT HAPPEN.

(PAUL)>> I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY OR THE DRIVEWAY TO KEEP ALL THE MUSCLE CARS. SO I CAN OWN ANYTHING I WANT AND HAVE ANY WAY I WANT IT.

(ANNOUNCER)>> REMEMBER WHEN YOU WERE A KID AND YOU HAD ENOUGH TOY CARS TO FILL A FIVE GALLON BUCKET? WELL CHANCES ARE YOU DIDN'T HAVE ANYTHING ON THIS GUY.

(JOE)>> THE LATE 1960'S WAS THE TIME OF REVOLUTION AND CHANGE, EVEN IN TOY MART. WHEN MATTEL INTRODUCED ITS FIRST SIXTEEN DIE CAST HOT WHEELS, KITS WERE THRILLED TO HAVE SMALL VERSIONS OF THEIR FAVORITE MUSCLE MACHINES, HOT RODS, AND EVEN RACE CARS. THEY BOUGHT THEM, TRADED THEM, AND OF COURSE RACE THEM.

MANY OF THOSE KIDS HAVE GROWN UP TO BECOME EVEN MORE FANATIC COLLECTORS.

(PAUL)>> WE WANTED TO GO BACK AND BUY OUR CHILDHOODS BACK. I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY OR THE DRIVEWAY TO KEEP ALL THE MUSCLE CARS AND STUFF THAT I WOULD LIKE TO OWN. SO I CAN OWN THING I WANT AND HAVE ANY WAY I WANT IT.

(JOE)>> PAUL WOOTEN WANTED A LOT OF THEM, AND HERE'S WHERE HE DISPLAYS SOME OF HIS ESTIMATED 200,000 HOT WHEELS.

(PAUL)>> PRETTY MUCH IF IT'S DISPLAYED IN THIS MAN CAVE, IT HAS A MEANING TO ME. THEY TEND TO BE GIVEN TO ME BY SOMEBODY. IT'S SOMETHING I REBOUGHT TO REPLACE SOMETHING FROM MY CHILDHOOD.

SOME OF THEM WERE MY KID'S CARS.

(JOE)>> WITH MOST HOT WHEELS GUYS THERE'S A

SPECIAL COLLECTION WITHIN THE WHOLE COLLECTION. PAUL'S BECOME A FAN OF HOT WHEELS VANS.

(PAUL)>> THE BAJA BREAKER IS A FOUR WHEEL DRIVE VAN. THAT'S MY FAVORITE OF ALL CASTINGS OUT THERE.

AND THEN I GOT IN THE WEIRD THING OF STATION WAGONS.

I GOT INTO LIKING THE GROCERY GETTERS.

AND MY WIFE HATES THEM BUT I LOVE THEM.

(JOE)>> SEVERAL YEARS AGO PAUL'S DIE CAST ADDICTION

TOOK AN ARTISTIC TURN. HE STARTED DESIGNING, MODIFYING, AND PACKAGING HIS OWN LIMITED EDITION MODELS.

(PAUL)>> I MEAN SOME OF THE WORK LIKE CHIP FOOSE

WILL DO ON CARS. YOU KNOW, YOU WANT TO DO ALL THAT ON A LITTLE CAR. YOU WANT TO MAKE IT AS COOL AS YOU POSSIBLE CAN AND PACKAGE IT IN A WAY THAT SOMEBODY WANTS TO SPEND $50 BUCKS TO $100 BUCKS FOR YOUR CAR. AND THEN YOU'VE GOT YOUR PIECES THAT ARE FOR LIKE SHOWS. LIKE IF YOU DID A BIG CAR SHOW AND YOU WANTED TO PUT THE NAME OF THE CAR SHOW ON THE SIDE OF IT, AND PAINT IT UP REAL COOL, AND PACKAGE IT. PEOPLE WANT IT BECAUSE THERE'S ONLY MAYBE 10 MADE, OR 50 MADE.

(JOE)>> THE PROCEDURE IS JUST LIKE WHAT YOU SEE IN A TYPICAL RESTORATION SHOP ONLY IN ONESIXTYFOURTH SCALE. FIRST SEPARATING THE FRAME FROM THE BODY. THEN HE GETS THE BODY DOWN TO BARE METAL WITH A BATH IN PAINT STRIPPER. AFTER PRIMER IT'S TIME FOR SOME COLOR. SO HE LAYS DOWN SEVERAL COATS OF DUPLICOLOR PAINT.

(PAUL)>> WELL IT'S AN AUTOMOTIVE, AND YOU CAN GO TO SOME OF THE AUTO PART STORES AND PRETTY MUCH GET THE COLORS OF CARS THAT ARE ON THE ROAD. YOU'VE GOT YOUR METALLICS, AND YOU KNOW, YOU'VE GOT YOUR FLATS. AND IT DRIES QUICK.

(JOE)>> FOR GRAPHICS PAUL USES HIS COMPUTER TO GENERATE TINY SETS OF DECALS. THEN AFTER CLEAR COAT PAUL'S MODIFIED CREATION IS READY FOR A NEW HOME ON SOME OTHER COLLECTOR'S SHELF.

(PAUL)>> IT'S FUN, IT IS A LOT OF FUN.

(JOE)>> PAUL HAS EARNED A NATIONAL REPUTATION AMONG DIE CAST COLLECTORS FOR HIS TALENT AND EXPERTISE. AND HIS OWN COLLECTION OBSESSION SEEMS TO KNOW NO END. HAVE YOU GOT ALL THAT YOU WANT?

(PAUL)>> NO, I DON'T.

(JOE)>> WHAT DO YOU WANT?

(PAUL)>> MORE HOT WHEELS.

(ANNOUNCER)>> STICK AROUND AND WE'LL SHOW YOU HOW TO MAKE A RETROFIT STEERING COLUMN JIVE WITH YOUR MODIFIED RIDE.

(JOE)>> NOW WE'VE GOT ONE MORE COMPONENT TO MOCK UP ON OUR CHALLENGER, AND IT'S THIS RETROFIT STEERING COLUMN FROM I DID IT. NOW IT REQUIRES NO MODIFICATION TO INSTALL. IN FACT IT BOLTS UP TO A MANUAL, POWER, OR RACK AND PINION. NOW IT COMES WITH THEIR EASY EFFORT KEYED IGNITION, ALL THE WIRING WE NEED, AND ALL THE UNDER DASH HARDWARE STARTING WITH THIS MOUNTING PLATE. IT BOLTS TO THE FIREWALL WITH THE LIP OF THE PLATE FACING THE ENGINE SIDE.

(TOMMY)>> HERE'S A LITTLE TIP FOR YOU.

IT'S ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA TO KINDA COVER UP YOUR SHAFT BEFORE YOU STICK IT THROUGH THE WALL. YOU DON'T WANT IT TO GET ANY OF THOSE BUGGERED UP

SPOT AND SCAR IT UP OR ANYTHING. IF YOU LAY DOWN ABOUT A FOOT OF TAPE JUST ABOVE THE BOTTOM, THAT SHOULD BE ENOUGH TO PROTECT THE COLUMN FROM SCUFFING. NEXT SLIDE THE LOAD PLATE ONTO THE COLUMN WITH THE

LIP FACING THE WHEEL SIDE, AND SLIP THE ORING UP AGAINST THE LOAD PLATE. THIS WILL HOLD THE LOAD PLATE UP OUT OF THE WAY WHILE WE SLIDE THE COLUMN IN. THEN WE CAN ATTACH THE COLUMN ONTO THE DASH USING A COUPLE OF BOLTS AND WASHERS FROM THE KIT. AFTER SLIDING THE LOAD PLATE DOWN TO THE MOUNTING

PLATE ON THE FIREWALL, WE USE A COUPLE MORE BOLTS AND WASHERS TO CINCH IT DOWN.

WELL ALRIGHTY GUYS, WE'VE GOT THE STEERING COLUMN INSTALLED WITHOUT A HITCH. NOW I NEED TO ORDER UP A SET OF HEADERS SO I CAN FINISH MAKING THAT STEERING SHAFT.

(JOE)>> YOU'RE RIGHT, WE'RE ON OUR WAY. OF COURSE WHEN WE INSTALL THIS THING FOR REAL, WE'LL WIRE IT UP. AND OH, WE'VE GOT TO GET OUR NOSES INTO THE CATALOG AND FIND A STEERING WHEEL FOR IT.

(TOMMY)>> CATALOG, REALLY?

(JOE)>> ONLINE CATALOG OKAY?

(TOMMY)>> OKAY BUDDY, OKAY.

(JOE)>> A LOT OF YOU GUYS OUT THERE HAVE SEEN US INSTALL EDELBROCK EFORCE SUPERCHARGERS ON A VARIETY OF LATE MODEL APPLICATIONS. ALWAYS TO ADD A BIG BOOST TO OVERALL HORSEPOWER NUMBERS. OF COURSE THEY COME WITH A BLACK ALUMINUM LID AND COIL COVERS TO DRESS UP YOUR ENGINE BAY, BUT CHECK THIS OUT. NOW YOU CAN GET THESE REPLACEMENT COVERS THAT ARE POWDER COATED WITH RED AND BLACK LIKE THIS SET FOR A CAMARO. WHAT'S MORE YOU CAN NOW THIS COLOR COMBINATION

WHEN YOU ORDER AN EFORCE SUPERCHARGER KIT. WELL NOW JUMPING BACK FROM NEW SCHOOL TO OLD SCHOOL COMPONENTS, HOW ABOUT THIS REPRODUCTION CHEVROLET 396 BIG BLOCK INTAKE FROM CLASSIC INDUSTRIES. NOW THIS COULD BE PERFECT FOR A RESTORATION FOR LET'S SAY A '68 OR '69 CAMARO. IT'S GOT THE GM SERIAL NUMBER AND FIRING ORDER CASTINGS IN THE RIGHT PLACE, AND COULD TAKE YOU ONE STEP FURTHER TOWARD THAT ACCURATE RESTORATION. ONCE AGAIN IT'S FROM CLASSIC INDUSTRIES AND COSTS ABOUT $350 BUCKS. WELL THAT'S GONNA PUT THE LID ON THIS WEEK'S DETROIT MUSCLE. WE'LL SEE YOU AROUND HERE NEXT TIME.
