NASA Is Literally Re-Inventing The Wheel
The saying “you’re reinventing the wheel” usually means you’re wasting time or duplicating an idea, but NASA literally is reinventing the wheel for space. They’re developing “shape memory alloy airless tires” because the ones we use on Earth just don’t cut it.
The material can adapt to different terrains of the moon and mars like sand and rock and is made up of hundreds of metal wires woven together. The plan is to help with space mobility and maybe one day make it so our vehicles on planet Earth can get around on a different planet. Thoughts?
