The ’70s were a fascinating time in American culture. It gave birth to some of the greatest rock bands in the world, Farrah Fawcett had her famous flipped hair, and disco was a (mercifully short) thing too. But for automotive enthusiasts, it was also the time in which many discovered the spirit of off-roading with the Ford Free Wheeling Broncos and trucks.

To pay tribute to the groovy days of the ’70s, ordering is open for a limited retro-styled graphics package for the 2024 Ford Bronco Sport Free Wheeling special edition, as well as for the Black Appearance package for the Bronco Sport Big Bend for a more dark and brooding look both for the interior and exterior.

2024 Ford Bronco Sport Free Wheeling Special Edition

Ford first introduced the Free Wheeling package on the F-100, F-150, Bronco, Econoline van, as well as other models in the late 1970s. This limited-edition trim featured several graphic patterns of red, orange, and yellow to depict a warm and vibrant sunset set against a black background. This new version of the Free Wheeling package for the 2024 Ford Bronco follows that same colorful theme, but expands it with painted steel wheels, and black finishes on the grilles, mirrors, and bumpers. The same red, orange, and yellow striping is also found stitched into the Bronco’s seats and dash.

“Bronco customers appreciate its heritage,” says Jason Hyde, Ford Bronco Sport Marketing Manager in a press release. “After such a great response to the reimagined Bronco Sport Free Wheeling project vehicle in 2021, we decided to bring this special edition that ties Bronco Sport to its fun-loving roots.”

As many younger Bronco owners of the ’70s were able to enjoy summertime adventures in this limited-edition trim, Ford hopes that today’s generation will be able to share those same memorable experiences.

“The Ford Free Wheeling package was developed to appeal to younger customers,” said Ted Ryan, Archives and Heritage Brand Manager for Ford. “The Free Wheeling Broncos were as popular as they were distinctive.”

The 2024 Ford Bronco Sport Free Wheeling special edition also comes equipped with the same drivetrain and gear included in the Big Bend package.
