(ANNOUNCER)>> TODAY WE'RE INSTALLING OUR FRESHLY HARVESTED SIX LITER LS ENGINE AND IT'S FOURL-80 TRANSMISSION INTO OUR 1971 C-10. THEN WE'RE RELOCATING THE GAS TANK BEFORE WE INSTALL OUR MODIFIED ENGINE HARNESS. AND FINALLY WE'LL FIRE IT UP.

IT'S ALL TODAY HERE ON TRUCKS.

(RYAN)>> QUIET!

(KEVIN)>> IT IS QUIET!

(KEVIN)>> HEY, WELCOME TO TRUCKS. WELL AS YOU CAN SEE WE'VE GOT OUR '71 C-10 STRIPPED

DOWN OF THE FRONT SHEET METAL AND OBVIOUSLY THE ENGINE. WE'VE GOT THE FRAME RAILS AND THE CROSS MEMBER CLEANED UP, GETTING READY FOR AN ENGINE SWAP.

IF YOU REMEMBER, THE ENGINE WE PULLED OUT OF HERE WAS AN IRON HEADED, CARBURETED 454 THAT WAS KINDA PUNCHED OUT AND PRETTY POWERFUL. ALTHOUGH IT MADE GOOD POWER, IT WAS INEFFICIENT AND ARGUABLY NOSE HEAVY. WHAT WE'RE PUTTING BACK IN HERE IS MODERN LS POWER, FUEL INJECTED, WITH AN AUTOMATIC OVERDRIVE TRANSMISSION.

(KEVIN)>> NOW THE ENGINE WE'RE GOING WITH IS THIS SIX LITER LQ FOUR THAT WE PICKED UP ON THE CHEAP OUT OF A WRECKED '01 GMC 2,500. NOW IT'S ALSO DONATED ITS AUTOMATIC OVERDRIVE TRANSMISSION, A TWO WHEEL DRIVE FOURL-80. NOW THESE LS ENGINES ARE GREAT PLATFORMS FOR MAKING LOTS OF POWER WHILE STILL MAINTAINING REASONABLE

FUEL ECONOMY AND GREAT DRIVABILITY. NOW THE GOAL BY THE END OF TODAY IS TO HAVE THIS THING SITTING DOWN IN BETWEEN THAT TRUCK'S FRAME RAILS, AND TO GET STARTED ON SOME OF OTHER SUPPORTING SYSTEMS LIKE FUEL, AND EXHAUST, AND EVERYBODY'S FAVORITE, WIRING.

(KEVIN)>> THIS IS THE TRANSMISSION CROSS MEMBER WE PULLED OUT OF THE TRUCK. AND AFTER CLEANING ABOUT A HALF INCH OF SCHMUTZ OFF OF IT IT ACTUALLY LOOKS PRETTY GOOD. AS YOU CAN SEE IT BOLTS INTO THE FRAME RAILS, AND THERE'S EVEN A SECOND SET OF HOLES ON THE

FRAME RAILS THEMSELVES.

BUT IT DOESN'T REALLY EVEN MATTER IF THERE IS OR NOT. IF THEY LINE UP, GREAT, IF THEY DON'T, WELL HECK,

WE CAN JUST DRILL SOME MORE HOLES.

NOW ONE OF THE THINGS I LIKE SO MUCH ABOUT GENERAL MOTORS IS THAT THEY MADE THINGS THE SAME FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME. CASE IN POINT, THE BOLT HOLE ORIENTATION IN THE CROSS MEMBER FOR THE TURBO 400 IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS IT IS FOR THE FOURL-80. SO THAT MEANS WE CAN USE THE SAME TRANSMISSION MOUNT ISOLATOR FOR THIS CROSS MEMBER, MAKING IT A NO BRAINER. SO ONCE THAT'S CONNECTED WE CAN JUST FIND THE PLACEMENT FOR THE CROSS MEMBER BASED ON THE ENGINE MOUNTS ON THE SIDE OF THE BLOCK, AND THE TRANSMISSION PART OF THIS EQUATION HAS BEEN SOLVED. NOW AS FAR AS THE ENGINE MOUNTS WE HAD TO DO SOMETHING A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT. THESE ARE THE BIG BLOCK FACTORY FRAME PLATES THAT WE TOOK OFF OF THE CHASSIS. NOW SOMEBODY SOMEWHERE IS DYING FOR A PAIR OF THESE

IN GOOD SHAPE, BUT THEY'RE JUST NOT GONNA WORK FOR US. WHAT WE NEED WITH THE LS SWAP WAS A SET OF SMALL BLOCK FRAME PLATES FROM A SIMILAR YEAR MODEL C-10, AND WE ENDED UP WITH THESE RIGHT HERE. OUR BUDDY TOMMY FROM MUSCLE CAR HAD AN OLD TRUCK KICKING AROUND AND THESE WERE IN NICE SHAPE. SO HE BROUGHT THEM IN FOR US. AND IF YOU'RE GONNA DO THIS SWAP FROM THE BIG BLOCK TO THE SMALL LS, YOU'RE GONNA NEED A PAIR OF THESE. SO GO JUNKYARD HUNTING. THE POINT IS THIS. BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION CROSS MEMBER, THESE FACTORY ENGINE PLATES SOME REPLACEMENT ISOLATORS, AND THE ADAPTERS THAT WE GOT FOR THE LS BLOCK, THIS IS A VERY SIMPLE BOLT IN. WE'RE SLIDING THE ORIGINAL TRANSMISSION CROSS MEMBER IN USING THE WORLD'S LARGEST RUBBER HAMMER. ONCE YOU GET PAST THE INTERFERENCE, IT SITS NATURALLY IN THE CCHANNEL. NOW ALL WE'RE DOING IS MAKING A STAND FOR THE TRANSMISSION. WHERE IT ENDS UP DEPENDS ON WHERE THE ENGINE SITS ON THE ENGINE MOUNTS. THE COOL THING IS WE CAN RECYCLE THE CROSS MEMBER. YOU WANT ME TO PUT A BOLT IN HERE AND HOLD IT?

(RYAN)>> DOES IT LINE UP?

(KEVIN)>> AH, YES.

(RYAN)>> SHOOT WE'RE SITTING HOME MAN. NOW FOR SWAPPING A LATE MODEL ENGINE INTO AN OLD PICK UP TRUCK, IT DOESN'T GET A WHOLE LOT EASIER THAN THIS. NOW FOR EXHAUST MANIFOLDS, WE REMOVED THE HEAT SHIELD AND WE'RE GONNA BE RUNNING THE STOCK MANIFOLDS FOR NOW. WE'LL UPGRADE TO A SET OF HEADERS SOME TIME DOWN THE ROAD, BUT FOR NOW WE WANT TO GET THIS SWAP DONE ON A BUDGET. THE DRIVER'S SIDE, WELL THEY'RE IN THERE AND THEY'RE KINDA TIGHT. WE MIGHT HAVE TO DO A SLIGHT BIT OF RELIEF GRINDING JUST FOR SOME WIGGLE ROOM, BUT FOR THE MOST PART WE'RE IN GOOD SHAPE. HOW ARE DOING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE? WE'VE GOT A COUPLE OF ISSUES TO DEAL WITH. NOW THE FIRST PROBLEM IS THE A/C COMPRESSOR, IT DOESN'T FIT. NOW THE TRUCK CAME WITH AIR CONDITIONING AND WE DEFINITELY WANT TO KEEP IT BUT FOR NOW, WELL IT WANTS TO OCCUPY THE SAME REAL ESTATE AS THE ENGINE MOUNT. SO WE'RE GONNA HAVE TO LEAVE IT OFF. NO BIG DEAL, IT RUNS ON ITS OWN BELT, AND THE REST OF THE ACCESSORIES RUN OFF THE SERPENTINE BELT. WHEN WE GET THE TRUCK UP AND RUNNING, WE WANT TO ADD AIR CONDITIONING LATER, WELL IT'S JUST A MATTER OF ADDING A CUSTOM ENGINE MOUNT, RELOCATING THE COMPRESSOR, OR COMING UP WITH SOME OTHER SOLUTION. NOW THE PASSENGER SIDE MANIFOLD, WELL IT JUST ABOUT FITS, BUT WE'VE GOT TO MAKE A SMALL NOTCH HERE ON THE FRAME PLATE AND MAYBE JUST A LITTLE BIT ON THE TOP OF THE FRAME.

BACK HERE AT THE COLLECTOR, WE'VE GOT TO

MODIFY THE TOP OF THE CCHANNEL FRAME.

(KEVIN)>> NOW THERE'S NEED TO MAKE ANY KIND OF A TEMPLATE HERE. WE'RE JUST USING THE ACTUAL PARTS THAT WE HAVE

TO WORK AROUND AND TRACING AROUND THEM. SO WE KNOW THAT WE'LL GET THE CLEARANCE THAT WE'LL NEED. WITH OUR GUIDE LINES DRAWN AND THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION BACK OUT OF THE VEHICLE, WE'RE USING A

40 GRIT FLAT WHEEL THAT WE PICKED UP FROM INDUSTRIAL DEPOT TO MAKE THE CLEARANCE WE NEED ON THE ENGINE PLATE AND THE FRONT OF THE FRAME. OUT BACK WE PULL OUT THE HOT WRENCH, OR THE OXY ACETYLENE TORCH TO BE SPECIFIC. AND JUST USING AN ADJUSTABLE WRENCH, WHAT WE'RE DOING IS HEATING UP THE CCHANNEL OF THE FRAME RAIL ITSELF. THERE'S NO NEED FOR US IN THIS INSTANCE TO DO A BUNCH OF CUTTING, AND TEMPLATING, AND WELDING BACK IN. WE'RE JUST GONNA USE THE ACTUAL MATERIAL THAT THE FRAME WAS MADE OUT OF AND MIMIC WHAT THEY DID AT THE FACTORY, WHICH WAS TO BEND AND ALIGN THE FRAME CCHANNEL WHERE IT NEEDS TO BE AND WHERE YOU NEED CLEARANCE. THE GOAL HERE IS TO HEAT THE METAL CHERRY RED AND THEN GENTLY PRY WITH THE ADJUSTABLE WRENCH. THIS ALLOWS YOU TO EASILY BEND THE METAL WITHOUT TEARING IT, AND IT KEEPS YOUR REPAIR LOCALIZED WITHOUT EFFECTING THE DIMENSIONS OF THE FRAME AROUND IT.

BY THE WAY LET THIS COOL ON ITS OWN SO THAT METAL DOESN'T GET ANY WEAKER OR DOESN'T GET BRITTLE.

(KEVIN)>> HEY, WELCOME BACK TO TRUCKS. WELL NOW THAT WE KNOW THAT OUR SIX LITER LS FITS COMFORTABLY BETWEEN THE FRAME RAILS, IT'S TIME TO ADDRESS A COUPLE OF THE OTHER SYSTEMS INVOLVED IN PUTTING MODERN POWER INTO A VINTAGE CHASSIS. CASE IN POINT, THE FUEL SYSTEM. NOW WE ALL REMEMBER THIS GUY HE WAS SPITTING OUT MORE FUEL ONTO THE ROAD THAN HE WAS ACTUALLY BURNING INTO THE CARBURETOR, EVEN WITH THAT GIANT BIG BLOCK. SO A COMMON CHOICE WHEN YOU'RE DOING A RETRO FIT LIKE THIS IS TO RELOCATE THE FUEL TANK UNDER THE BED. BECAUSE LETS FACT IT, YOU'RE CONSTANTLY SMELLING FUEL VAPORS INSIDE THE CAB AND YOU'RE PUKING IT OUT ONTO THE ROAD INSTEAD OF BURNING IT. GAS IS EXPENSIVE SO WE'VE CHOSEN TO RELOCATE THE FUEL TANK. NOW THE NEXT GENERATION OF PICK UP DECIDED TO PUT THE FUEL TANK RIGHT HERE BECAUSE THEY CHANGED TO A LEAF SPRING SYSTEM FROM THE TRUCK ARM SYSTEM. BUT WITH OUR SUSPENSION AND THIS TRUCK ARM SYSTEM

THE WAY IT IS, WE NEED THAT REAL ESTATE FOR THAT ARTICULATION. SO WE CAN'T PUT THE FUEL TANK IN THE SIDE. THERE'S ANOTHER PLACE. SO IN MY OPINION THE ONLY OTHER SPOT, AND REALLY THE BEST SPOT, TO RELOCATE A FUEL TANK IN ONE OF THESE PICK UPS IS RIGHT HERE, CAUSE ONCE YOU GET RID OF THIS CROSS MEMBER, YOU'VE GOT A GIANT SPACE TO OCCUPY WITH NOTHING IN THE WAY AND IT'S THE PERFECT PLACE. WE'VE ACTUALLY DONE THIS BEFORE ON THE '66 C-10 THAT WE DID A WHILE AGO.

THE BEST THING ABOUT PUTTING YOUR FUEL TANK HERE IS THAT YOU DON'T NEED TO SPEND A LOT OF MONEY ON A CUSTOM FUEL CELL.

WE DIDN'T HAVE TO LOOK ANY FURTHER THAN THE LMC TRUCK CATALOG, AND WE FOUND THIS. THIS IS A '67 TO '72 SUBURBAN REPLACEMENT TANK. IT'S GOT A 21 GALLON CAPACITY, AND WHEN YOU BUY THE KIT, YOU GET A NEW SENDING UNIT AND PICK UP TUBE. NOW SINCE THE SUBURBAN AND THE CHEVY TRUCK SHARED THE SAME FRAME RAIL WIDTH, FOR US, AT LEAST IN THE MOUNTING OF THE TANK, WELL IT'S A BOLT IN.

(RYAN)>> IT'S A BOLT IN ALRIGHT AFTER YOU CUT OUT THIS CROSS MEMBER.

NOW THERE'S MORE THAN ONE TANK REPLACEMENT OPTION

OUT THERE FOR GETTING IT OUT OF THE CAB. WE'VE SEEN EVERYTHING FROM CAMARO FUEL TANKS TO JEEP WRANGLER TANKS USED. IT JUST DEPENDS ON HOW MUCH WORK YOU WANT TO DO AND HOW MUCH MONEY YOU WANT TO SPEND. OH AND THERE'S ALWAYS THE CUSTOM FUEL TANK OPTION, BUT THAT'S EXPENSIVE. THAT'S IT! NOW THAT WOULD BE SIMPLE ENOUGH IF WE WERE RUNNING A CARBURETOR OR AN EXTERNALLY MOUNTED ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP, BUT WE WANTED TO RUN AN IN TANK PUMP FOR A COUPLE OF REASONS. FIRST OF ALL, WELL EXTERNAL PUMPS HAVE A TENDENCY TO SOMETIMES BUT NOT ALWAYS BE

A LITTLE BIT NOISY. PLUS IN TANK PUMPS SEEM TO LAST A LITTLE BIT LONGER. SO THAT'S THE ROUTE WE WENT. NOW TO GET AN IN TANK PUMP TO WORK WITH OUR OLD SCHOOL FUEL TANK OBVIOUSLY TOOK A LITTLE BIT OF MODIFICATION. CHECK OUT WHAT WE DID. FIRST WE CUT OUT A COUPLE OF METAL RINGS USING OUR TORCH MATE AND CUT OUT A MATCHING HOLE IN THE FUEL TANK. THEN SIMPLY DID A PERIMETER TIG WELD TO SEAL THINGS UP, WELDED ON A COUPLE OF BOLTS TO ACT AS MOUNTING STUDS, AND DRILLED MATCHING HOLES IN

THIS TOP PLATE TO ACT AS A RETAINER RING. AND THAT WILL ALLOW US TO USE THIS, AN AIR TECH'S DIRECT REPLACEMENT FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY DESIGN FOR AN '01 SIERRA. THE SAME TRUCK THAT GAVE US THE DONOR ENGINE. SO WE KNOW IT'S GONNA BE A PERFECT MATCH. SINCE IT'S SPRING LOADED AND DESIGNED TO SIT RIGHT ON THE FLOOR OF THE FUEL TANK, WELL THAT 'LL MAKE UP FOR THE SLIGHT HEIGHT VARIATION IN BETWEEN THE STOCK PLASTIC TANK AND OUR REPLACEMENT METAL TANK. SIMPLY DROPS DOWN IN THE HOLE, GASKET IN PLACE, RETAINER PLATE LOCKS IT IN PLACE. ADD SOME HARDWARE AND THAT SUCKER WILL BE NICE AND SEALED UP. THEN ADD THE PIG TAILS SUPPLIED THE FUEL PUMP TIED INTO OUR FUEL PUMP ON SIGNAL COMING FROM OUR PCM AND WE'LL BE GOOD TO GO. BUT WE'RE NOT GOING TO USE THE SENDING UNIT BUILT INTO THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY. WE'RE GONNA USE THE SENDING UNIT THAT CAME WITH THE TANK. THAT WAY THE GAUGE IN OUR INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WILL READ ACCURATELY. ALL WE HAVE TO DO TO MAKE IT WORK IS WELD SHUT THE FUEL PUMP PICK UP. WE'LL BE GOOD TO GO.

(RYAN)>> HEY GUYS, WELCOME BACK TO THE SHOP WHERE WE'RE WORKING ON OUR '71 CHEVY THAT WE'VE DROPPED A LATE MODEL FUEL INJECTED SIX LITER INTO, AND WE'RE WORKING ON SOME OF THE THINGS THAT ARE KINDA

REQUIRED TO MAKE IT RUN, LIKE A FUEL SYSTEM.

NOW WE'VE GOT OUR MATCHING FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY INSTALLED AND WE'VE GOT THE TANK BOLTED TO THE FRAME RAILS. YOU MAY BE NOTICING THE TANK SITS A LITTLE BIT ABOVE THE FRAME RAILS, AND THAT'S A PROBLEM BECAUSE

THAT'S EXACTLY WHERE THE BED SUPPORT RAIL SITS. NOW WITH THIS PROBLEM WE LOOKED AT A COUPLE OF DIFFERENT OPTIONS. FIRST THE TWO BY TWO PIECES OF SQUARE TUBING TO SPACE THE TANK AWAY FROM THE FRAME RAILS, AND IT GAVE US THE CLEARANCE WE NEEDED UP TOP BUT THE TANK HUNG KINDA LOW. THAT'S A PROBLEM BECAUSE YOUR TRUCK'S A TWO WHEEL DRIVE AND WE PLAN ON LOWERING IT A LITTLE BIT MORE ANYWAY. BUT IF YOUR TRUCK'S A FOUR WHEEL DRIVE, IT MAY BE AN OPTION WORTH LOOKING INTO. NOW WHAT WE ENDED UP DOING TO SOLVE OUR CLEARANCE PROBLEM IS A LITTLE BIT OF BODY WORK.

(KEVIN)>> NOW THE BODY WORK RYAN'S TALKING ABOUT WAS ACTUALLY PRETTY SIMPLE. YOU CAN SEE WHAT WE DID. WE TRIMMED THE BRACE DOWN, FLAT PLATTED IT WITH SOME 18 GAUGE, GROUND THE WELDS FLUSH, AND NOW WE'RE GETTING READY TO THROW SOME PAINT ON IT SO IT DOESN'T RUST. IF YOU'RE PAYING CLOSE ATTENTION, YOU'LL REMEMBER THAT DURING MOCK UP THE FUEL FILLER NECK

WAS ON THIS SIDE. NOW THAT IT'S PERMANENTLY INSTALLED IT'S ON THIS SIDE. WE DID THAT FOR TWO REASONS. THAT'S BECAUSE THE FILLER NECK AND THE NEW FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY WERE RIGHT IN LINE WITH THIS BRACE, SO WE DIDN'T HAVE CLEARANCE. AND WE DIDN'T WANT TO CARVE IT COMPLETELY UP INTO THE BED FLOOR AND SACRIFICE THE STRENGTH. WITH IT ON THIS SIDE WE CAN ROUTE IT OUT EITHER TO THE SIDE OF THE BED, THROUGH THE BED FLOOR, OR THE INSIDE OF THE BED THROUGH THE TAILLIGHT, SOMETHING COOL AND SOMETHING CUSTOM MAYBE.

(RYAN)>> THAT OUGHT TO TAKE CARE OF THE FUEL TANK. NOW WHEN WE STARTED THIS SWAP WE TOLD YOU GUYS WE WEREN'T SURE IF WE WERE GONNA GO WITH AN AFTERMARKET FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM, OR KEEP THE STOCK PARTS AND JUST HAVE THE HARNESS CUT DOWN AND THE PCM REFLASHED. WELL IN ORDER TO SAVE A FEW BUCKS WE KEPT OUR STOCK PARTS AND JUST HAD THEM MODIFIED. SO A FEW WEEKS AGO WE SENT THEM AWAY AND HERE'S WHAT WE GOT BACK. THE GUYS OVER AT 150 TUNES DOT COM DID A GREAT JOB AT REFLASHING OUR PCM AND CUTTING THE HARNESS DOWN,

LOOMING EVERYTHING TOGETHER, AND GIVING IT A FACTORY APPEARANCE. IT TURNED OUT GREAT! PART OF THE DEAL INCLUDED THIS SIX BLADE FUSE PANEL AND A FEW WIRES THAT WE HAVE TO HOOK UP OURSELVES. NOW INSTALLATION WAS PRETTY STRAIGHT FORWARD. OUR NEW CUT DOWN HARNESS LAID OUT JUST LIKE THE FACTORY ORIGINAL HARNESS, AND THE FACTORY CONNECTORS WOULD PRETTY MUCH ONLY GO ONE WAY. YOU COMBINE THAT WITH THE FACT THAT THE HARNESS IS CLEARLY LABELED, YOU'D BE HARD PRESSED TO SCREW UP THE INSTALL.

NOW ONE OF THE THINGS THESE GUYS DO IS ON THE DATA LINK, OR OBD TWO CONNECTOR, IS PROVIDE A LITTLE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT'LL LIGHT UP IF THERE'S A FAULT IN THE SYSTEM. IF THERE IS, WE CAN SCAN IT JUST LIKE ANY OTHER LATE MODEL CHEVY. NOW THE REMAINING WIRES WE'VE GOT LEFT TO HOOK UP, WELL THEY'RE PRETTY SELF EXPLANATORY BECAUSE THEY'RE CLEARLY LABELED.

WE'VE GOT FUEL PUMP CONTROL, SPEEDO OUT, TACH

FEED, AND AUXILIARY FAN CONTROL, AND HOOK UP

SHOULD BE PRETTY SELF EXPLANATORY.

(KEVIN)>> 150 TUNES GIVES YOU THE OPTION OF CONVERTING FROM A DRIVE BY WIRE TO A DRIVE BY CABLE CONNECTION ON THE THROTTLE BODY IF YOU REALLY WANT TO SIMPLIFY THINGS. OURS IS A DRIVE BY CABLE SINCE IT WAS A 2001 ANYWAY. THEY ALSO GIVE YOU THE OPTION OF ELIMINATING SOME

OF THE FACTORY SYSTEMS THAT WE DON'T NEED ON A RETRO FIT LIKE THIS. THINGS LIKE THE REAR MOUNTED OTWO SENSORS, THE ANTITHEFT SYSTEM, AND EGR. NOW FOR THE EGR SYSTEM WE DID A BLOCK OFF ON THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND ONE RIGHT HERE BEHIND THE THROTTLE BODY ON THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. AGAIN, IT'S VERY SIMPLE. AND THE GREAT THING ABOUT THIS SYSTEM IS THAT THESE PLUGS ARE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT AND THEY CAME FROM THIS ENGINE.

SO IT'S GONNA FIT.

(KEVIN)>> HEY, WELCOME BACK TO TRUCKS.

WELL IT'S THE MOMENT OF TRUTH. GOT THE MASS AIR METER ON, LAST COUPLE OF PLUGS PLUGGED UP, NOW WE GET TO MAKE SOME

FIRE WITH THIS THING. BUT IN CASE YOU'RE WONDERING WHAT IT COST TO HAVE THE HARNESS REDONE, WELL IT WAS $250 DOLLARS TO HAVE IT TRIMMED DOWN, AND THE BUSINESS IS CALLED 150 TUNES DOT COM. GUESS HOW MUCH IT COST TO TUNE THE PCM? WELL IT WAS $150 BUCKS. BUT ALL JOKES ASIDE, FOR LESS THAN $500 DOLLARS WE'RE UP AND RUNNING. THAT'S PRETTY COOL.

(RYAN)>> NOW TO MAKE OUR FUEL LINE CONNECTIONS AT THE PUMP AND UP HERE AT THE RAIL, WELL WE'VE GOT TO DEAL WITH THE PUSH LOCK STYLE CONNECTORS THAT G/M USES. TO DO THAT WE PICKED UP A COUPLE OF FITTINGS FROM RUSSELL. THAT'LL HELP US GET THAT DONE. SIMPLY SLIDE OVER THE RAIL, THIS LITTLE LOCKING COLLAR COMES IN, GETS TIGHTENED UP WITH A COUPLE OF WRENCHES, AND THAT'LL ALLOW US TO TIGHTEN DOWN OUR AN FITTINGS. WE WON'T HAVE TO DEAL WITH THAT FITTING ANY MORE. THREE SLICK PIECES!

ALRIGHT, NOW WE'VE GOT EVERYTHING WIRED IN TO OUR JUMP BOX SINCE WE DON'T HAVE A BATTERY IN PLACE. WE'VE GOT OUR MATCO REMOTE STARTER ACTING AS OUR KEY. WE'VE GOT THE FUEL PUMP WIRED IN AND WE'RE GONNA

TURN THIS THING OVER AND SEE IF WE CAN MAKE SOME NOISE, READY?

(KEVIN)>> YEP! [ engine turns, engine turns, engine fires ]

(KEVIN)>> QUIET!

(RYAN)>> IT IS QUIET, NICE AND SMOOTH! THAT SOUNDS GOOD. THERE IT IS.

(KEVIN)>> THAT'S AWESOME!

(RYAN)>> WELL THAT'S ABOUT ONE OF THE EASIEST SWAPS THERE IS.

(KEVIN)>> NO KIDDING.

(RYAN)>> THAT WORKED OUT GOOD.

(KEVIN)>> THAT'S CRAZY.

THIS IS THREE IN ONE'S HIGH PERFORMANCE LUBRICANT

SPRAY WITH LONG LASTING PROTECTION. WHAT MAKES IT LONG LASTING IS PTFE IN THE FORMULA, BETTER KNOWN BY ITS TRADE NAME OF TEFLON. IT WITHSTANDS TEMPERATURES FROM MINUS 50 TO 450 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT.

THREE IN ONE'S HIGH PERFORMANCE LUBRICANT SPRAY WORKS ON METAL AND NONMETAL OBJECTS WITH THE EXCEPTION OF WOOD.

SO IF YOU'VE GOT A BICYCLE, A MOTORCYCLE, AN ATV, A CAR, A TRUCK, A HOUSE, OR ESPECIALLY A SHOP, THIS PRODUCT IS A MUST HAVE. GONE ARE THE DAYS OF THROWING A TWO AMP TRICKLE CHARGER ON YOUR BATTERY AND HOPING. AND SCHUMACHER'S BATTERY EXTENDER SOLVES A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH A LOT OF OPTIONS. THE BATTERY EXTENDER IS A MICROPROCESSOR SMART CHARGER. IT GIVES YOU MULTISTAGE CHARGING FOR ANY BATTERY

TYPE, BUT THE COOL THING IS ALL THE CONNECTIONS. COME OUT OF THE CHARGER ITSELF WHERE YOU CAN HARD WIRE INTO YOUR VEHICLE. AND JUST DO A QUICK DISCONNECT HERE WHEN YOU'RE DONE CHARGING. OR YOU CAN GO THE CONVENTIONAL ROUTE AND CONNECT RIGHT TO THE POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINALS. OR GO IN THROUGH YOUR CIGARETTE LIGHTER PORT OR

12 VOLT POWER OUTLET. THESE ARE FLOWMASTER'S NEW SCAVENGER ELITE SERIES

HEADERS FOR THE FIVETHREE LS. NOW ONE OF THE ISSUES WITH THE FACTORY CAST IRON MANIFOLDS HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE FACT THAT THEY'RE RESTRICTIVE. EVEN THOUGH THIS DESIGN IS A LITTLE BIT BETTER, YOU STILL DON'T GET THE FLOW FROM THE INDIVIDUAL PRIMARY TUBES.

NOT TO MENTION, WHILE THEY'RE RUSTY AND UGLY, AND THE HEAT SHIELD. WELL IT'S THIS FLIMSY SHEET METAL THING THAT'S DESTINE TO RUST AND FAIL. THE CERAMIC COATING IS INSIDE AND OUTSIDE SO THEY WON'T RUST. BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY THEY CONTROL UNDER HOOD TEMPERATURES WHILE THEY'RE KICKING UP YOUR HORSEPOWER. FLOWMASTER'S ELITE SERIES HEADERS COME WITH ALL THE HARDWARE YOU NEED TO MOUNT THEM AND A SET OF CRUSH STYLE GASKETS, EVEN A ONE YEAR WARRANTY. THEY'RE AVAILABLE WHEREVER FLOWMASTER

PRODUCTS ARE SOLD. THANKS FOR WATCHING TRUCKS, SEE YOU GUYS NEXT TIME.
