The 2019 Mid-Engine Corvette C8 Caught Track Testing!

The mid-engine C8 Chevrolet Corvette has been spotted testing at the track, giving us the latest glimpse of the new model. The supercar is expected to debut in 2019 to add to the current Corvette model lineup rather than to replace it directly.

This is a big switch-up for the Corvettes since they have always been front-engined, rear wheel drive sports cars. Chevrolet has studied the idea of a mid-engine Corvette at several points in its history but it was only a concept until now.

AutoWeek posted the video that strings together three fairly tame starts from a standstill but it still gives you a few ideas as to what’s under the hood.

It was originally thought that GM’s upcoming twin-turbocharged 4.2L V8 would be used, however, there are now rumors that it will borrow the 6.2-liter LT1. Take a listen to the video and decide for yourself though.
