University of Utah Surprises Athletes with Free Jeeps & Ram Trucks

It what may be the best early Christmas present any college student could ask for, the University of Utah surprised its student athletes with a very unique choice: a free 2024 Ram 1500 Big Horn pickup truck, or a free 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L.

According to a press release by Stellantis, these gifts were courtesy of the Utah Crimson Collective and its streaming app, Utah 360° as a special form of thanks and support for their efforts on and off the field.

“As a former University of Utah gymnast, it’s incredibly meaningful for me to support our female athletes, as well as our talented young men,” said Nicole Mouskondis, co-CEO of Nicholas and Co. and board member of Crimson Collective. “When we began with the Crimson Collective, we envisioned an equitable platform that supports and connects all student athletes and particularly our women’s teams. This initiative is not just about providing transportation, it’s about showing all our student athletes that their achievements and contributions to the community are equally celebrated, on and off the field.”

How Was The University of Utah Able To Gift Students These Vehicles?

The lease and insurance of the vehicles are covered by the Crimson Collective through collective donations, and was facilitated in partnership with the Ken Garaff Automotive Group, hence the “For the Win 360” branding featured all over the trucks. The collective made sure that every eligible scholarship player was acknowledged and appreciated and encouraged to give back to their local communities.

Members of the University of Utah football team that had received scholarships to the school were offered Ram 1500 trucks with a six-month lease contract that may roll over into the new year based on the student’s eligibility and enrollment at the college. The lease will end if a player’s eligibility expires, or if they are no longer enrolled at the University of Utah. It is unknown if these same terms are carried over to other student athletes that received leases for a new vehicle.
