If you’ve been wondering why there has been an increase in interest of people looking to be UPS Drivers, it may be due to the company’s union receiving a considerably large salary boost. According to a report by Business Insider, UPS reached an agreement with the Teamsters union in July 2023 following negotiations over employee wages and benefits for over 340,000 UPS drivers and package handlers.

This news follows the recent upgrade for drivers finally able to get air conditioning in their delivery vehicles.

UPS Drivers Receive New Salary

To avoid a strike, UPS agreed to pay $30 billion over a five-year period for improved wages, benefits, and working conditions for employees. The company’s new minimum wage for part-time works is set at $21 per hour, while full-time employees will receive $49 per hour. Should this deal be agreed upon by union members, UPS drivers will become the highest-paid delivery drivers in the U.S.

According to an earnings call with UPS CEO Carol Tomé, full-time drivers would receive approximately $170,000 per year in salary and benefits by the end of the aforementioned five-year period. This is a massive increase to what UPS drivers currently earn, which is $95,000 a year with $50,000 in benefits.

Following these reports, Indeed.com has seen a 50% surge in online users searching for “UPS” or “United Parcel Service” specifically in the title of job listings.

So the next time you hear “What can brown do for you?”, apparently they can do a lot.
