The Chevy Colorado Received a Huge Sales Boost Against The Toyota Tacoma in Q3 2023

Just like the Ford F-Series is always competing against the Chevy Silverado, the same can be said for the Chevy Colorado and the Toyota Tacoma in the midsize truck market. While the Toyota Tacoma is still the reigning champion in terms of sales, it was the Chevy Colorado that saw a noticeable increase in its sales percentage in Q3 of 2023, when the Tacoma saw a loss.

According to data by GMAuthority.com, by the end of Q3 2023, there were a total of 25,520 sold Chevrolet Colorado units. This is a 5% increase when compared to the 24,405 units that were sold in Q3 of 2022. This news is a good reprieve for Chevy’s midsize truck, as the Colorado had been seeing an overall sales decrease of 14% in 2023 with a total of 58,685 trucks sold so far.

Currently, the Chevy Colorado is ranked second behind the Toyota Tacoma for the top-selling midsize pickup trucks of 2023 in the US. Despite seeing a 10% decrease in sales in Q3 of 2023 with a total of 40,705 units sold, the Toyota Tacoma still remains on top of the pack. The next closest competitor is the Jeep Gladiator in third place, followed by the Nissan Frontier in fourth, the Ford Ranger in fifth, and the GMC Canyon in last.

What is interesting about this shift is how the Chevy Colorado managed to close the sales gap between it and the Toyota Tacoma by nearly 15k in deliveries, as well as over 11k deliveries ahead of the Jeep Gladiator. Of course, it should also be noted that while the number of Toyota Tacomas sold in Q3 went down by 10 percent, the midsize truck has an enormous lead ahead of the competition in terms of overall sales. As in a lead of nearly 121,000 trucks.

For the Chevy Colorado, this may not be a huge victory against the Tacoma. But when it comes to being the only midsize truck to see an increase in sales in Q3 2023, a win is a win.
