When you think grandma, you probably picture her behind the wheel or a Buick or Lincoln. When you think Nissan 180SX you probably imagine a young or middles aged car enthusiast. But not 87-year-old June Bouwer! She is the proud owner of this beautiful red 1991 Nissan 180SX. She is a resident of Knysna, South Africa. She acquired the car after it was her choice as a “bribe” to agree to move away from the busy city of Johannesburg. With the keys to her dream car in hand, she began to enjoy it for years to come.

Servicing and proper maintenance was always her top priority, and it shows. There isn’t a spec of rust in sight. The car has been garaged its entire life ensuring the bright red paint stays fade free. When we asked her if she’s ever given the car a good run on the highway she laughably replied, ‘I got it up to 160/kph once, but that was plenty for me.’

Over the years June has been bombarded by collectors and enthusiasts trying to purchase It, but she’s not interested and she’s not letting it go anytime soon.

*Note: If you’re curious on the 200SX badging, between 1975 and 2002, Nissan retailed the Silvia as the 200SX in certain export markets.
