Photos: Detroit Muscle’s ’80s Ladies

Detroit Muscle’s Marc and Tommy have been quite busy around the shop getting their ’80s ladies ready to roll – the ’85 Buick “Street Regal” and the ’81 Cobra “Sydewinder”.

Project Sydewinder was given a new facelift that you’ll see in its entirety shortly and in an upcoming episode of Detroit Muscle. (We can’t give everything away!) On the latest episode, this patina’d ’81 Cobra received an aggressive exhaust setup. If you’ve been following along, you know that this Fox-body received a tubular k-member and control arm, crate rearend, chassis stiffening parts, and a coilover suspension. It also has a 427 Windsor that made 613 on Engine Power’s dyno, and a TKO 600 five-speed transmission.

The ’85 Buick project, Street Regal, was given some love with the removal of that dated vinyl soft top. Tommy plans to add some modern convenience with strong power to this G-body including fuel injection, big brakes, an auto transmission, fancy wheels, and a nice paint job. The plan is a create Pro-touring theme with a luxury feel. Tommy made a trip to Street Rod Garage in Grant, Alabama for a full custom frame that includes rack and pinion steering, solid sway bar, adjustable QA1 coilovers for springs and shocks, fabricated tubular upper and lower control arms for front suspension, parallel four-link with a Panhard bar, a beefy Moser rear axle, and a limited-slip rear diff among other things. Powering the Regal will be a 525-hp LS3 from Chevrolet Performance.

Check out some of the photos of the ’80s ladies transformations.

You can view new episodes on History channel on Sundays at 8:30 am eastern time.

Can you guess which project these wheels are for?
