Ford Debuts 2023 F-150 Rattler as an Entry-Level Off-Road Variant

The F-150 Rattler package is built off the XL series, with FX4 content featuring skid plates to help ensure Built Ford Tough protection for a confident off-road experience, electronic rear-locking differential for enhanced traction, hill descent control for precision throttle and braking on steep descents, and specially tuned off-road shock absorbers for increased stability over tough terrain. In addition, F-150 Rattler features rugged all-terrain tires for versatility and capability.

The F-150 is one of Ford’s flagship models and a fan favorite for decades. With eight different versions ranging from the standard XL to the desert-bound Raptor, each truck comes with its own equipment packages specific to its driver’s lifestyle. Now Ford has debuted its latest edition to its off-road series, the F-150 Rattler.

The Rattler is based on the XL series with some gear from the FX4 such as an electronic locking rear differential, hill descent control, and off-road-tuned shock absorbers. Additionally, the truck will feature skid plates to protect the fuel tank, front differential, and transfer case, as well as four all-terrain tires.

The Rattler will be available only as a SuperCab or as a SuperCrew, and will require one of its four available engines: the twin-turbo 2.7-liter V-6, 5.0-liter V-8, or twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6.

A few extra details that will set it apart from its F-150 counterparts include a Rattler badge, snakeskin Rattler graphic on the side of the bed, dual exhaust tips that promised to let out “a bold sound”, and painted 18-inch aluminum wheels.

The 2023 Ford F-150 Rattler is expected to arrive this Fall.
