The 2024 Ford Mustang GT California Special Mixes Retro Visuals with Modern Power

The Ford Mustang has certainly gone through quite the transformation since its debut 1964. As its 60th birthday is right around the corner, the automaker has announced a modern, vibrant twist on an old classic with the 2024 Ford Mustang GT California Special.

“The original California Special package was geared toward California’s optimistic and carefree driving culture. We’re refocusing on those elements for the 2024 Mustang GT California Special, which brings vibrant style that looks as at home on Colorado Boulevard as it does on the Pacific Coast Highway,” says Mustang Brand Manager Joe Bellino in a press release. “Rave Blue is such a distinct and exciting color, it really does make the California Special stand out not only from other Mustang models, but from previous California Special models.”

2024 Mustang GT California Special Features

It is in the Mustang’s nature to be a magnet for attention, and the 2024 Ford Mustang GT California Special is no different. One of its most striking features is its bold Rave Blue highlights found throughout the car. It appears in the car’s nostril intakes, wheels, badges, interior stitching, and more. Its headlights are surrounded by black bezels while Mustang GT California Special-specific graphics in Medium Light Rave Blue and High- and Low-Gloss Black appear on the lower body sides.

The California Special package is also available with two 19.0-inch wheel options. The standard Carbonized Gray wheels have a GT/CS pad-printed logo in Rave Blue, while the optional Performance Pack wheel combines a more machined face with Rave Blue pockets. The 5.0-liter engine badge on the front fenders and the GT badge at the back add Rave Blue outlines to black centers – like the GT Performance Package, there is a Performance Pack-specific badge.

Further elevating the style of the 2024 Ford Mustang GT California Special is a bold dual-color contrast stitching using Raptor Blue and Metal Gray threads that extend to the dash and doors. This same stitching is also available for the steering wheel and center console.

When Will The 2024 Ford Mustang GT California Special Be Available?

The 2024 Ford Mustang GT California Special is available in either a six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission. Overall, the package adds $1,995 to the price of the Mustang GT premium in both Coupe and Convertible body styles.

The 2024 Mustang GT California Special will be making its official public debut at the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show on November 16th, and the order books for this trim is available now at Ford.com.
