Today, we're cruising around the good guys, Nashville Nationals to see what's hot.

What's cool, what's expensive?

What's cheap

and what's fun?

It's all today here on trucks.

Very cool.

Hey, welcome to trucks. Well, we're back here at the good guys, Nashville Nationals. Only this time we're staying a little longer because there's lots to see. We got a vendor's midway Auto Cross, plenty of great looking cars and trucks. But uh

that talking, we're looking

the good guys, Nashville Nationals wraps itself around the Tennessee Titans LP field. And as you can imagine, an NFL football field, well, it's got plenty of parking, lots of room for vendors and lots of room for all the vehicles that come here from miles and miles around.

But one of the treasures that we've got right here in Nashville is advanced plating. One of the nation's premier chrome plating and powder coating shops, advanced plating is always coming up with new ideas. Well, what we've been developing here for the last two years has been a process. A new black nickel process called Cobalt nickel has a little bit of a different hue to it with a lot of reflectiveness. Very nice looking finish goes well with just about any color combination, gives us something different to look at than just the shiny stuff.

Now, advanced plating wasn't the only manufacturer there showing off their products. The vendors midway was overflowing with companies both large and small showing off their products to potential customers.

There was plenty of those there as well

and you can get just about any part you wanted here, street rides by Michael was showing off a frame and suspension set up. There was billet, everything everywhere you could get interior parts, gas cans, steering columns, even the tools you need to work on your next project.

We even ran into a couple of friends of ours and they had one of their ultra clean award winning cars on display,

this Camaros, no trailer queen. It seen plenty of track time.

Ok. We're here at the Ring Brothers with in front of the reactor being the good guys that they are. Sorry, I had to, they brought us some genuine Wisconsin cheese. And, um,

yeah, and I've spent some time on some farms before. I have never eaten a cow pie.

Thanks. Ring Brothers.

Oh, it's been in a cooler.

Oh,

a little better than I got

with the thousands of custom vehicles on display trucks were certainly in no short supply. As a matter of fact, we've seen more and more trucks lately at car shows.

We even ran across a couple of celebrities on the ground

and

check out this classic Chevy ultra clean on the outside. Corvette powered on the inside.

Now, one truck we couldn't walk by without taking a closer look at was this really cool four door C 10?

Now, these guys didn't miss too many details when working on this truck. This thing was ultra clean, especially under the hood where it's powered by a late model Corvette engine.

Now, inside the cab, it's pretty apparent. They took a much more modern approach with the interior of their truck than we did with ours.

Now, we cut ours in half to make a short bed, but we never had the idea of cutting two trucks in half to make one.

We had a short wheel base step side and then we have a long wheel, uh a fleet side

and then we had a big back winner and a small back winner. So we just kind of went in, went with a big back winner so you can see. And then from there,

our buddies at rush

performance had no shortage of eye candy on display from turnkey crate engines to display cars. Beautiful ef I naturally aspirated engines, front end accessory drive systems. And on the other end of the spectrum of this awesome naturally aspirated stuff was a rush

prepped supercharged late model Mustang

now stuff in a blower under the hood of a late model Mustang is no small feat, but the

Rusch engineers came through with this one with a slightly different approach.

The most obvious change was rerouting the air to the blow itself, moving the air inlet was more about improving the aesthetics under the hood than it was for form and function. We can make it work either way,

but we kind of like bring it around the side that it let naturally wanted to come to. So we've done that and it actually made improvements on what that car looks like over there under the hood a lot. But we get a lot of comments about that.

I wish I could have one of these golf carts every time I went to a car show. Yeah. No kidding.

Another El Camino 60.

Sure about that. I think you're right. Look at them all.

Oops.

Hey, let's go check on specter.

It looks like they got the whole catalog here.

Wow. Check it out.

The specters catalog is actually about the size of a phone book. They've got parts and kits for both ef I and carbureted applications and they're constantly coming up with new parts.

Uh We're really focused on this last couple of years on the air intake systems, the filtration system, stuff like that

for every 10 degree drop that you get in the air temp, you can turn around and get about a 1 to 1.5% horsepower again. So if you can drop that sucker 7080 degrees pretty substantial

up

next auto crossing at the good guys show and later we're hunting for bargains in the swap meet area. Stay tuned

right where everything comes together, eliminates the friction. Awesome.

Hey, welcome back to trucks. Well, we're still up here at Good Guys event up in Nashville. We're about ready to check out the auto cross and it's not just for cars either.

Check it out.

I

now getting a truck to handle well, on an auto cross course is no small feat.

With the majority of the weight being over the front axle, getting the rear tire to hook up under acceleration is quite the challenge.

These guys are doing a great job of planting the power and hustling these big heavy vehicles around a track or suited for a car.

This just goes to show with some of the parts available in the aftermarket. You can really get one of these big heavy trucks to handle.

Look at Dr coming around that last quarter,

but it

is

earlier. You may have noticed one of specters test vehicles this slick mustang mach one. Now,

this thing is built for speed and having fun.

Even if it's not a truck,

it's got one of our intake systems on it right now that uh we use for a lot of testing

and it's got a full roll cage in it. Uh We pull the motor out stock block 351 Windsor

uh stroked at 408.

We the fuel injection on it right now with a, uh, de I,

uh, fuel ignition set up on it

and it, uh, we'll strap to the diner once in a while. We try new stuff. It's a kind of a cool fun toy.

And with this course it's spread out over about three acres. It looks fairly tam,

but from inside the vehicle, it's a different story.

Now, if you've never had the opportunity to drive or even ride shotgun in a car or truck driven at the limits of tire adhesion where you need to give it a try

as a spectator. It looks like these guys may not be driving that hard, but being inside the vehicle will completely change your perspective

and a tight course like this will really make you find the limits of traction, acceleration, breaking and cornering,

and it's a great way to learn car control skills.

And while you're learning to drive better, you may just happen to have a boatload of fun. You find yourself addicted to this white knuckle experience.

It's quite the ride

and believe it or not specter was crazy enough to toss me the keys

first time in this car, first time on this track. All right, I'll give you two quick pointers on this side.

We have a red light over here when that turns green, you're permitted to go

two

lap.

When you come to this first transition over here, you stay to your right hand side

lap

when you get to that transition on the second lap, you'll exit to the,

that

throw you to the finish line, which will stop your time.

There's a stop sign in front of that. I need you to come to a complete full stop. I will do my best. Absolutely. And then this is a beam start. So whenever your front tire trips the beam, it starts your time. So big smoky burnout.

Anything

but waste time on your end. Ok.

Waste your time through, feel it out, figure it out and then sneak up on the speed. I

shall do it exactly.

Now, driving on the edge is all about balance and weight transfer and you got to listen to your tires. They'll do a lot of talking to you, especially street tires.

Now wagging the tail end of the car around is fun, but it's gonna cost you time.

If you're going from a high speed section to a tight turn, you can use the brake pedal to help settle the car.

It'll transfer weight to the front of the vehicle, letting the tires grip more, allowing you to steer.

It's a big heavy car wants to push a lot in the front.

Gotta use the throttle to steer

a lot

and

this car performs as good as it looks with the stroke. Winds are offering gods a torque down low and enough high RPM horsepower to let me get through this entire course in just second gear. Great run

for

his

first pass of the day. 48.74

up next, we've got deals, deals, deals. It's all got to go today. Stay tuned.

Hey, welcome back to trucks. We like a lot of great car shows. The Nashville Nationals has an awesome swap meet. There's all kinds of treasure here and I know a lot of those old fifties Chryslers were huge, but I wanna know what that hood ornament came off of.

Now. The best way to hit a swap meet is first thing in the morning,

we kind of failed at that because it's mid afternoon, but there's still tons of deals to be had all kinds of stuff from every make year and model, but it helps to have a shopping list before you even get there.

Now, the coolest thing about a swap meet is the used parts, man. The deals are here. You got to look for them, for instance, top loader four speed for an early mustang. That's a hard piece to find.

There's blowers, there's intakes look a 671 blower and a dual quad small block manifold full load for the older style. Look, it's got the cranky spin on the front of the manifold and then the price is right.

The fun thing. We got eight track tapes, Freddie Fender

stars of the seventies star Trek in 76.

Ok. I'm dating myself

now, Chris Michaels had some pretty interesting stuff collected including this 59 Studebaker. Pickup. Now, it's a little odd looking, but you can see through the patina and visualize an awesome street rod with just a little bit of work. Well, maybe a lot of work. Despite the fact that it's 19 different colors, it's pretty solid.

All right now to swap me like this, you can get anything between an intake manifold and a complete truck, but you don't have to get a complete truck. You can get something that's gonna be a big project for you. Like this cab, you can throw it on a late model chassis.

There's no doubt about it. It's gonna be a ton of work, but when you're all said and done,

it's gonna be something really cool, really unique.

No, it's not David Allen's truck. Coe stands for cab over engine and I've seen a couple of these trucks built on late model chassis. You can do a neat looking vintage roll back like this.

Now, even if the rest of the car is totally rotted away, the emblems can make some interesting memorabilia.

Now, you never know just what you're gonna see like this futuristic radio flyer bathed in billet with a trailer and an air foil that keep the down force on the turns.

Heck, the parts don't even have to be automotive. There's all kinds of cool antique collectibles.

Now, a swap meets not just about parts. The car Correll has full vehicles for sale like this 61 Ford Unibody. This is pretty rare. Matter of fact, I used to have one of these in high school. It was a 62. Mine didn't have the big bad V8 or the ghost flames. But, hey, this thing's pretty cool and it's for sale.

And I don't think the debate will ever be settled on whether Rancheros in

Caminos like this one, our cars, our trucks, but we might weigh in on it and go with one of these projects in the next year or two

and check out this 67 C 10. It's nice and clean, got a good clean interior in it, late model buckets. You throw some late model rolling stock on this thing. Bring it up to current times. Got yourself a nice driver.

Not too bad a price either.

And believe it or not, eight track tapes are actually starting to come back. I'm not sure why

and whether you're trying to decorate your garage or the license plate or fill it up with a classic truck. Man, there's all kinds of stuff that you can get access to including these rare and unique intake manifolds.

You are definitely not going to find one of these at your local auto parts store. I think I've only ever seen one other like this on a street ride.

Speaking of unique

1946 Dodge, look at this thing. This will make an awesome Street Rod Project. 1250 bucks. Our best offer, the deals are out there and look, there's even still some paint on it.

We saw guys coming in with empty trailers and leave with full ones and guys with full trailers leave with empty ones. So one thing is for sure parts were changing hands

now, the CJ. Well, it's a little more affordable 500 bucks and it fits me. What do you think,

man? I'm,

I'm wearing the wrong hat for this thing.

Need to be spitting donuts.

Hey, welcome back. Well, that was nothing but fun and it's always great to get out to car shows and see what guys are doing, whether it's paying tribute to the classics or incorporating new and modern technology into an older vehicle. Either way, it's always inspiring to get out there and see what guys are doing

to their vehicles, cars and trucks and the aftermarket. Well, plain to see, it's never been better and there's more and more parts, there's more parts available than there ever has been for us to use on our classic vehicles. But more than that, it's about the guys that are putting their hands on them and building them and that

is you and me.

Hey guys, check out the new patrons

plug and Play Billet Flame thrower distributor featuring their new Igniter three electronic ignition module. Now, this set up offers five times more spark energy than points and even provides a multiple spark discharge throughout the entire RPM range. Heck, you can even set your rev limit right here on the ignition module.

These performance proven CNC machine and polished distributors are easy to install and they're 50 state legal.

Now, one of my least favorite things about working on any project vehicle is chasing down electrical gremlins. Well, power probe has just stepped up with some new multi function diagnostic tools to make that job a lot easier. Check this out. This is the ECT 2000

includes a smart transmitter and a wireless receiver. Now, one of the many functions this device says is you can plug it into a dedicated circuit and using the receiver, follow your wire loom until you find the failure point. And it's going to let you know either by an audible alert or with a light.

Now this is the power probe three, they call this their ultimate circuit tester. It has multi meter capabilities including led lights. So you don't stab a hole in your finger while you're trying to test the circuit in a dark area.

Among other things, this

is actually got the ability to power up an individual circuit like a cooling fan or a light. So you can load test circuits. It's got enough fleet to get around just about any vehicle.

Power pro products are designed to eliminate the frustrating guess work out of electronic diagnosis and are available wherever professional tools are sold including Macco tool distributors.

Now, before we go, I wanna give a special thanks to the folks at Specter performance for trusting me with the keys to their ultra clean 1970 mach one. I had a blast hustling that car around the auto cross course.

Now, if you got any questions about the show, go to Power Block tv.com. Thanks for watching trucks. See you next week.
