Uber Is Going Airborne With Uber Choppers

Uber is taking this up a notch: it’s offering helicopter rides in New York City.

The ride-sharing company announced this week that it’s readying its first helicopters for takeoff in New York City starting July 9. Uber is rolling out Uber Copter service for its Uber Reward Platinum and Diamond cardholders, offering the top-tier members an 8-minute helicopter ride to or from the Downtown Manhattan Heliport near Wall Street and John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Unlike Uber’s car service, Uber Copter a predetermined route that runs between the Staten Island Ferry and Kennedy Airport. Uber hasn’t publicly announced the service itself, but according to the article, flights will have space for up to five passengers, minimal luggage with two pilots operated by the Heliflite charter service.
