Rivian Offering AWD Quad-Motor 750HP Electric Pickup Truck And SUV

Electric vehicles are here to stay. News from the EV world just keeps coming, and these cars aren’t just for getting from Point A to Point B anymore. They’re becoming snazzier, quicker, and now able to conquer the off-road. The startup company Rivian just announced at the LA Auto Show that they are now offering two off-road all-electric vehicles that are anything but boring – the R1T pickup truck and the R1S SUV. We can bet you’ll remember those headlights whether a fan or not.

Both are powered by four motors good for 197bhp each, one for each wheel. Both models make about 750 horsepower and can conquer the 0-60 in 3 seconds. According to the website, this truck can tow up to 5,000 kg (11,000 lbs.), and the SUV can tow up to 3,500 kg (7,700 lbs). The pickup has a “Quad Drive” feature for navigating off-road situations, and both can wade up to 3 feet. Also capable of going 250-400 miles on a single charge.

Rivian is now taking preorders for their R1T truck and R1S sports utility vehicle for fall 2020 delivery. The R1T pickup starts at $69,000 ($61,500 after EV tax credits) while the R1S SUV starts at $72,000 ($65,000).
