Nissan Recalls 450k Vehicles Because Emblems Are Turning Into Air Bag Projectiles

Often times automakers issue recalls over faulty equipment or a safety-related problem. Recently, Nissan released a recall for over 460,000 vehicles produced in the model years 2008 to 2011 due to emblems on the driver’s steering wheel detaching upon release of the airbag.

This recall applies to the 2008 to 2011 Nissan Titan, Frontier, Xterra, Pathfinder, Armada, and the 2008 and 2009 Nissan Quest.

According to the recall, the resin that glues the emblem to the steering wheel can produce cracks over time, and potentially detach as a projectile and cause injury upon the deployment of the airbag. No other Nissan or Infinity vehicles are affected by this recall other than those listed above.

Nissan is scheduled to send out letters to owners of the affected vehicles by April 10th, 2023, informing them of this potential safety hazard.
