Florida Commissioner in Ferrari Given Speeding Ticket After Claiming “I Run The County”

As we all know, nobody is above the law. One man learned this after the Florida Highway Patrol released footage of one officer pulling over a local elected official.

On June 19th, Flagler County Commission Chairman Joe Mullins was pulled over on I-95 after going 92 mph in his 2014 Ferrari 458 Spider when the speed limit is 70 mph.

As seen in the video, the trooper informs Mullins that he could have been lenient with him. Unfortunately Mullins’ reputation and attitude made that impossible.

“Usually I give warnings, I give breaks. But it looks like you’ve been written a warning already,” the trooper said as he informed Mullins he would be receiving a speeding ticket. Mullins, unhappy with the outcome, replied, “I run the county, I know how that works.”

Apparently, the chairman was pulled over in a separate traffic stop earlier in the month for going 89 mph in a 60 mph zone.

According to the Daytona Beach News-Journal, Mullins showed the trooper his business card in hopes his position would be enough to escape the ticket. The trooper described Mullins as “extremely condescending, belligerent, illogical, and disrespectful.”

The trooper also said that Mullins told him, “it would be a career-ending move if I arrested him for failing to obey a lawful order.” After receiving a ticket, Mullins was issued a $256 fine and was given the chance to attend a four-hour driver improvement course to avoid having points removed from his license.
