The Ford Performance team is in the midst of preparations for one of their biggest races of 2024, the Rolex 24 at Daytona, and running on the track is their new Mustang GT3 race car. And to give fans a look at what goes into getting ready for a big race like this, Ford is releasing a 5-part docuseries titled “Mustang Endurance” which details all the testing and modifying that the team puts into their car.

Perfecting The Mustang GT3

The team behind the Mustang GT3 spent months putting their car through intense driving environments ranging from pouring rain, sizzling heat, and cold air in the United States and Europe, all to ready themselves for its debut at the Rolex 24 at Daytona in January 2024.

Key figures in the docuseries include Global Sports Car Manager, Kevin Root and Multimatic Motorsports leader, Larry Holt, as well as the close-knit team of drivers, engineers, designers, and technicians who all work together to make the Mustang GT3 a force to be reckoned with on the track.

The docuseries is arranged in a similar way a runner would prepare for a marathon, focusing on developing the body (chassis and aero), the heart (engine), and the mind (the people on the team that make this race possible, all leading up to the big race at Daytona.

The Lead Up To The Big Race

Like any big project, there are always obstacles standing in the team’s way. Which is just the natural way these things go. Rather than spin it to look like building and refining the performance of a race car is a walk in the park, viewers are greeted with the unfair realities that they will experience along the way as they aim to be ready for twice around-the-clock event on the Daytona track.

“We go racing for many reasons, not least of which is to win important races and championships and to drive brand value back to our business,” says Mark Rushbrook, global director, Ford Performance Motorsports in a press release. “This is Mustang’s 60th anniversary in 2024, and I can think of no better way to celebrate this global performance icon than to put it to the test in the harshest environments. I am proud of the incredible team who have made this happen and this documentary celebrates their dedication and hard work to get us on the grid in January.”
