The 2018 Trackhawk Might Be the Most Powerful SUV

Rumor has it the new 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is the world’s most powerful SUV. Autoblog reports this is Fiat Chrysler’s third vehicle to have the supercharged V8 powerhouse under the hood. And it puts out 707 horsepower and 645 lb.-ft. of torque. It’s basically the Hellcat using a different name. The Trackhawk can hit 0-60 in 3.5 seconds and runs the quarter-mile in 11.6 seconds @ 116mph.

Although the Hellcats and the Trackhawk have similarities under the hood, the SUV has something they don’t…all wheel drive. The supercharged V8 sends power to an 8-speed automatic and a single-speed transfer case to keep from eating the driveline. Both the rear and half shafts have been strengthened to handle the extra power. The power is split 60/40 front and rear in the default setting but changes based on how aggressive you’re driving. Track Mode, for instance is split 30/70 and Snow Mode splits 50/50.

The suspension is lowered a full inch if you compare it to regular Grand Cherokees and other features include Bilstein shocks and Brembo brakes. Jeep says the front brakes are the largest ever fitted to one of its vehicles. Pricing hasn’t been announced but you can look for the Trackhawk in dealerships towards the end of the year. Jeep fans…do you like it?
