Detroit Police Break Up Car Theft Ring in Attempted Raid on Ram Factory Lot

Car theft has been a constant thorn in the side of many automakers and police in the Detroit, Michigan area. Many criminals have made bold attempts at stealing new vehicles straight out of holding lots by the factories from which they were just built.

But the Sterling Heights Police Department managed to send a strong message to would-be thieves after nine suspects were arrested during an attempted raid of Ram 1500 pickup trucks at a Stellantis shipping yard.

The heist fell apart as soon as one of the suspects struck a squad car while another rammed into the lot’s exit gate while attempting to escape police detection. While there were no reported injuries, some other vehicles were damaged in the scuffle.

Although police did manage to break up this one car theft ring, the investigation is ongoing.
