Airport Surveillance Footage Shows Seconds Leading Up To Dale Jr. Plane Crash

Last month, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his family were on board a plane in East Tennessee when it crashed and went up in flames on the runway. Now, security footage from the Elizabethton Airport has been released showing the seconds leading up to the crash.

The surveillance video is fairly short but shows the attempted landing on the runway before the plane goes out of frame. You can also see an airport employee wearing a yellow vest run outside right after the plane passes.

Dale Jr. and his family were on their way to Bristol for a race when the plane bounced at least twice while landing before “coming down hard” on the right-wing landing gear, the National Transportation Safety Board investigators report.
