Yandex Self-Driving Taxi Service

A lot of talk has been in the news lately of self-driving Taxi’s, with Uber and other Taxi companies being interested in the technology. Now the Russian technology giant Yandex, has unveiled its self-driving Taxi prototype.

The prototype uses a variety of technologies including, navigation, geolocation, computer vision and machine learning expertise from other current products and services like Yandex Navigator and Yandex Maps. Yandex says testing is coming to public roads this year but it’s too early for projections regarding commercial availability. The company has stated that eventually it would like to partner with car manufacturers who are looking to bring autonomous cars to the market.
