Woman Blows Up Smart Car After Fuel Mix Up

Accidents happen, but this one almost cost a Smart Car driver her life. According to The Drive, Julie Nicklin accidentally poured several gallons of gas into the air intake of the 2005 car. And then as you would expect, the car exploded when she turned the key.

You’re probably wondering how she mixed the air intake and fuel filler up. On the Smart Car design, the ports are almost identical and are both located on the rear fender. Although it says “no fuel” on the intake cap, apparently mistakes are still made. Luckily, on newer models, the air intake has been updated with a different look. And lucky for Julie, a construction worker was able to pull her from the flames before she got any serious injuries.
