This week on Engine Power we told you that one lucky viewer will have the chance to take home Project Iron Animal, a 408 cubic-inch LS stroker that’ will make 1,000 horsepower!

Throughout this build the guys are going to show you the tips and tricks to making big horsepower and extending the life of this engine in a three shows!

“The foundation for this project is a fully machined 6-liter iron block, and every single part used came mail order from the Summit parts catalog,” host Mike Galley said.

The goal for Project Iron Animal is simple – 550 horsepower naturally aspirated on pump gas. But since it’s a stroker, we want a broad torque band, and from start to finish, we almost want a straight line on the dyno graph. The guys also plan to “put the wood” to the engine later with a big turbo to help it produce 1000 horses!

Who could use this in their project? Stay tuned! A special contest starts in August!
