The Buick Regal To Be Killed Off In 2021 Leaving An All-SUV Brand

Buick

As of 2021, the Buick Regal will be no longer in the lineup. This will leave the automaker with a lineup consisting of all SUVs. Buick has already announced it is eliminating the LaCrosse sedan and Cascada convertible for the 2020 model year.

The Regal has been around since 1973 and there have been 6 generations of the model. In Detroit Muscle, Marc and Tommy have a 1985 model they are working on.

Our Project Street Regal had it’s dated vinyl top removed and is getting some performance upgrades. Stay tuned to Detroit Muscle to see progress on the build!

A spokesperson for the automaker told Motor Authority:

“Buick continues to be ahead of the consumer shift toward SUVs. In fact, nearly 90 percent of Buick sales to date this year have been crossovers.”

As of now, the Regal is still available in the U.S. as both the hatchback Regal Sportback and an all-wheel-drive station wagon called the Regal TourX. Through 2019, there have only been 8,849 sold.

The Regal will continue to be sold in China, where it is manufactured.
