The B-1 Is A New Take On An Old-School Truck

Who said electric cars have to look like futuristic concepts and not classics? Well, FoxNews reports the Bollinger Motors B-1 looks like an old school Land Rover Defender or something but it’s all-electric. Company founder Robert Bollinger helped design the truck on his farm in New York after being dissatisfied with the trucks he was driving at the time. He hired a diverse team of engineers to help him build the truck you see here.

The result is an SUV, which is actually about the size of the original Ford Bronco that has an aluminum chassis with a battery pack in the floor, two electric motors and a steel roll cage. It can be transformed into a pickup truck, has 360hp with 472 lb-ft of torque, goes 0-60mph in 4.5 seconds and can haul or tow 6,100 pounds. Bollinger has decided to build these for the consumer market with an initial target of 5,000 to 10,000 trucks per year. It’s all pretty early in the manufacturing phase but you’ve gotta admit, this is one awesome electric truck!

This week Katie’s guest is 11-year-old Chase Johnson and his 300 horsepower Pro Mod Camaro. Chase and his dad will share how he started racing Go Karts at the age of 5. He moved into Quarter Midgets and won 33 wins last year alone! Now he’s moved up to the Pro Mod division and at the time we taped this story, he had already placed in the top 3. It’s an amazing story you have to see this weekend on PowerNation.
