Fire Department Trains By Cutting Up a 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500

Your Dearborn Firefighters train daily. This week we trained on vehicle extrication. It almost broke our hearts to cut…

As a training tool, the Dearborn Fire Department used a 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 and cut it up. But don’t worry, the test mule was set to be crushed anyway.

Unfortunately, while new cars are being developed, it’s required to push the mules to the limits to ensure both quality and durability. Basically, these cars are produced solely to be put in extreme situations drivers may encounter, such as a fire, crash, etc. Ultimately, after all the hardcore testing is finished, the mules are crushed. So the Dearborn Fire Department figured why not have this GT500 go out in style and the firefighters get some training simultaneously.

So while we hate seeing this Mustang destroyed, having it used as part of a live vehicle extraction training to prepare the department for emergency response is a great way to send it to the graveyard.
