Toyota Corolla Driver Lands On Roof After Missing Turn

A wrong turn landed this driver on another level. Literally.

Israel Hidalgo, the 25-year-old behind the wheel of the Toyota Corolla sent the sedan flying in Larchwood, Iowa. It’s reported he was driving northbound on Iowa Highway 9 about 10:40 p.m. when the incident happened. Local news KELO were told by authorities that they believe Hidalgo was likely driving around 115mph when he veered off the road and hit an embankment.

Hidalgo and the Corolla shot about 125 feet before landing on the roof of a house. Luckily, the residents weren’t home when he came crashing through their roof. A neighbor came out when he heard the noise and saw the Corolla-shaped hole in the roof.

“It’s amazing how far he got up,” said Curtis Canfield, the investigative neighbor. “All you seen was the back bumper and the taillights, so he was quite a ways into the house.”

Ace Towing showed up on the scene to remove the car and took some photos:

It’s reported that Hidalgo was hospitalized with unknown injuries. There is no comment from the homeowners but we have to imagine this was a bit of a shock to come home to.
