Own Your Own Drive-In! Ford Has Patented A Pickup Bed Movie Screen System

Drive-ins are few and far betweens these days. But now, you can have your own wherever you go. Ford has patented an accessory that turns a pickup bed into a movie theater.



The system is made up of two telescoping supports that mount into special receptacles built into the sides of the bed. One is located at the front of the truck and features an “I” shape that allows for a movie screen to be attached, while a single cross-member is located near the tailgate and can accommodate both the projector and speakers.

While Ford hasn’t announced plans to bring the design to production, automakers across the board have been putting a lot of effort into pickup bed innovation recently with developments like the Ram Box bedside compartments.
