Numbers Are Saying Ride Sharing And Autonomous Cars Are Far Way Off

For as much as we hear about ridesharing services like Uber and Lyft or autonomous technology “taking over” the automotive market, the numbers are saying it’s pretty far off. The National Automobile Dealers Association did some research and the numbers from both national surveys and focus groups show that at the end of the day, people still want the freedom, flexibility, and control they have with owning their own car. And actually, millennials aren’t an exception. Only 19% would consider giving up their cars.

Some other key statistics are: 89% of people prefer their own car over ridesharing. 93% of people say cars are convenient to own despite maintenance and costs. So, if you’re not looking forward to the day owning a car is gone, don’t worry. Sounds like you still have a while.
