Can you name a better battle than the one between Ford, Dodge, and Chevrolet? We’ll wait.

In their latest attempt to reign superior and demolish the competition, Chevrolet debuted the latest iteration of the Silverado, offering a ZR2 model and labeling it as the most extreme model to date.

The full-size pickup is poised to receive some nifty design updates, but the new ZR2 has been the start of the show getting all the buzz online. Each model boast unique grille designs and an updated front end.

High-end trims will receive a much-needed interior upgrades, which has been criticized by consumers in the current models. The refresh will certainly help it compete with the likes of the F-150 and Ram, each of which have luxurious offerings the Silverado is sorely lacking. It’s nice to see when auto brands listen to the people that are handing them money.

While the other models will set their sights elsewhere, the new ZR2 will focus on the rugged aspect because, you know, most of us use our trucks for more than trips to the grocery store. The new layout will offer a console shifter for trucks that come with bucket seats. It’ll also come with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 13.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system that’s paired with Google Maps, Play, and Assistant. We’re so desensitized by these large screens in new vehicles that we forget this is how big a TV was in our house back in the day. It’s incredible.

So, here is where the truck shines – the new Silverado ZR2 is a high-performance off-road machine. It’s equipped with a two-inch body lift, a 420 horsepower 6.2L V8, and Multimatic Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve dampers that adjust firmness based on wheel position and compression speed. It provides the perfect blend of comfort for normal driving conditions and when under duress off-road. It is by far the most extreme off-road machine the manufacturer has ever produced.

The truck is also equipped with some other off-road goodies. This includes an electronic locking differential in the rear, a tuned traction control system, thorough underbody protection, and a one-pedal driving feature. Similar to what you’ll find on the new Bronco, it engages the brakes when you lift off the throttle for increased drivability for sketchy off-road trails.

Is it the most extreme model? We think so. Are we sold? Absolutely. Chevrolet hit it out of the park with this one.
