Dodge Challenger SRT Demon Impresses At The Drag Strip

808. That’s the magic number when it comes to horsepower and the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. I mean could you really ask for more from a car that is straight from the factory, with a warranty, street-legal, AND passes emissions in all 50 states? And the fact that it costs $86,090, about $6,000 less than a stock 370 HP Porsche 911 doesn’t hurt either.

But nope, it doesn’t stop there. If you’ve got an extra dollar, yes singular dollar, Dodge will also sell you the Demon Crate. That includes the Demon logo-emblazoned parts and narrow front drag wheels along with a modified powertrain module that allows the engine to run 100 octane unleaded fuel. Can you really beat it for a dollar? With the module installed, it can be filled up, press the H.O. button on the center console to grab that extra 32 horsepower and 53 more lb-ft of torque. And if you’re wondering, the kit still honors all warranties and manages to meet emissions requirements all while providing a total of 840 horsepower and 770 lb-ft of torque.

So if what you’re after is pure insanity and speed all in one car, look no further. The only other road car on Earth that doesn’t come from a boutique brand and makes that much power without hybrid help currently for sale is the Bugatti Chiron. The Challenger SRT Demon may have seatbelts, suspension, and brakes, but so what? If you try and tell us you don’t respect the power this thing puts out, you’re crazy.
