Corvette Plant, Museum Motorsports Park Suffer Tornado Damage

Severe storms and tornados ripped across the country this weekend causing damage in several states. Bowling Green, Kentucky is home to GM’s Bowling Green Assembly Plant and the National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park and was hit by an EF-3 tornado. The Museum and plant sustained minimal damage compared to other business and homes that were devastated by the storm.

The video above was taken by David J. Schutt of a fire at the Bowling Green Assembly plant as a result of one of the tornadoes. Local KY news station WNKY confirmes, stating a fire did break out the morning of December 11. Thankfully, all workers that were on site are all safe.

The damage to the C8 assembly plant is still being assessed. It’s reported the plant will be shut down for at least the week of Dec. 13 which will likely impact production.

While the National Corvette Museum has announced it will be open today, the NCM Motorsports Park will remained closed until further notice and has cancelled all events.

Our thoughts go out to all those affected by the storms.
