Ford Motor Company issued a safety compliance recall in North America.
Ford issued a safety compliance recall for some 2017 Ford Mustangs to inspect the left-side door handle spring. The recall is for approximately 6,000 2017 Ford Mustang vehicles.
In the affected cars, the left-side interior door handle could possibly have been built with a misoriented return spring. This could increase the potential for the return spring to become unseated. If the interior door handle return spring is loose, the inertial loads experienced by the door handle may cause it to unlatch during a side hit which would increase the risk of injury if in a crash.
As far as Ford knows, there have been no accidents or injuries as a result of this problem.
The affected vehicles include certain 2017 Ford Mustang vehicles that were built at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant between January 13, 2017 and January 31, 2017.
There are about 5,756 affected vehicles in North America, including 5,470 in the U.S., 20 in Mexico and 266 in Canada. The Ford reference number for this recall is 17C04.
You can bring your car to a Ford dealership and they will inspect and fix the problem with no charge for the customer.
