Uber Is Hoping To Have Flying Cars Up And Running In The Next 5 Years

Uber has unveiled plans to make flying cars a reality. And relatively soon, according to The New York Post. The company wants to make VTOLs, or aircraft capable of vertical takeoff and landing- into operation within 5 years. The goal is to have them up and running in Dubai in time for the World Fair in 2020.

Blade, one of Uber’s partners on the VTOL project, wants New York City to be the platform for testing the vehicles and getting the public involved, hoping that eventually they’ll be able to cut down time and congestion for commuters. Uber reports that eventually, travel will cost a low as $1.32 a mile. Would you hop in one of these to save some time on your commute? Or are you happier on the ground.
