The Hellcat And Raptor Head To The Hills

The quickest way to take on a mountain has been found. And with two completely different vehicle approaches, thanks to MotorAuthority. They took the pavement punisher 2017 Dodge Challenger Hellcat and the off-road capable 2017 F-150 Raptor and set them out on different routes that were timed almost exactly to see whether going around the mountain or over it was more efficient. And which powerhouse would get the job done faster.

The Raptor and its twin-turbocharged V6 puts out 450 horsepower and is no stranger to tough terrain. It was put on the famous Switzerland Trail before it met up with LeftHand Canyon in Boulder Colorado. Meanwhile, the Hellcat puts out 707 horsepower and is all American muscle with a 200mph top speed. It takes the Boulder Canyon Road, connects to the Peak-to-Peak byway, which goes through the town of Nederland and ends up also at Lefthand Canyon. While the slight edge went to the Raptor, it’s wide stance was a liability on the trail and the Hellcat’s famous straight-line-only speed kept it from making up ground on the curvy scenic byway. But it’s a pretty close call considering the vast difference in both the vehicle and routes taken so make sure and check out the whole video here!
