Ford Is Releasing New Technology To Relieve Night Driving Anxiety

Ford found in a recent poll that there’s some anxiety when it comes to driving at night. From night blindness to hitting pedestrians, there are a lot of added factors in driving after dark. But Ford’s new technology that they’re adding in the 2018 Mustang and F-150 will have a pedestrian detection system that can see in the dark. The system will automatically apply the brakes if the driver doesn’t respond in time.

Some Ford’s are already equipped with the pedestrian detection technology, but this is the first time it will be able to use night vision, which could help prevent a lot of accidents and deaths. The system will use a radar in the bumper along with a camera on the windshield that can tell the difference between a person and an object like a tree or sign.

If it detects a person it’ll warn the driver and if the driver doesn’t respond, the car will automatically brake. Is this an autonomous feature you’d like to have?
