A story from The Guardian reports that Finland has started applying a reflective spray that makes reindeer more visible to motorists at nights.

The effort is to prevent car accidents.

According to the story, there are between 3,000-5,000 accidents that involve reindeer withs are “much deadlier for the reindeer than for the drivers.”

Two different types of spray are applied to the animals. One is a permanent formula for the antlers, and the other is one that can come out of their fur.

The Guardian says if this reduces the number of car accidents, they’ll continue to spray more animals next year.
