An AWD Nissan GT-R-Powered Ford Focus Race Car

It may look somewhat like a Focus, but underneath, it’s a mid-engine, all-wheel-drive rocket ship and you’ll want to watch it go.

Road and Track last reported that this impossibly cool Nissan GT-R-powered Ford Focus hillclimb car was being prepped for its Pikes Peak debut. However, since then, driver Tony Quinn and the car have made it up the hill, and fortunately for everyone, it was all captured on video. As was reported previously, the car is loosely based on a Ford Focus hatchback and it uses the windshield frame and A-pillars from the production model. Other than that, it’s completely custom.

It’s equipped with a mid-mounted 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 from a Nissan GT-R, which sends power to all four wheels. And according to HillClimb Monsters, the original video uploader, the car makes 850 horsepower and weighs under 2100 pounds. For reference, that’s as heavy a first-gen Mazda Miata, but with seven times the horsepower. Talk about getting work done.

As you can imagine, it’s something else to watch it claw up the hill at Pikes Peak. Quinn looks fully committed, and the video shows it. There’s nothing like it out there that we’ve seen. Have something crazy awesome to rival it? Let us know!
