2015 PowerNation Week #48 – 1958 VW Bug!

This week on PowerNation we feature our first ever Volkswagen Beetle! This is Daniel Jones’ beautifully restored 1958 Bug named “German Iron”. He and his dad restored the car on and off again in a 7 year build, taking the car down to the frame. Daniel is a painter by trade at Beaman Automotive in Murfreesboro, TN and painted everything from the floor pans to the suspension. If it’s not painted it’s chromed or billet. He dropped the car 2 inches. The color is a striking Chrysler “Go Mango” and GM “Bright Silver”. He pulled the original air cooled 36 horsepower engine out and dropped in a Chico Performance Racing 1915cc 105 horsepower engine with dual Weber 44 carbs. The interior is just as cool with “Sierra Red” leather seats and custom Speedhut Legacy gauges with ‘German Iron” imprinted on each gauge. All the trim, knobs, original steering wheel and parking brake have been painted “Candy White”. One other trick custom feature, the G-Down Exhaust exits out in front of the rear tire instead of the normal rear placement. It’s one cool VW you should check out this week on PowerNation!
