Rent A Racer!
This week on PowerNation Courtney hosts four more brand new episodes from shops with how-to you can use on your rides. Plus she’ll feature this amazing and rare 1966 Shelby G.T. 350-H Mustang. The H stands for Hertz which meant in 1966 if you were at least 25 years old and a Hertz Sports Car Club member, you could rent this Shelby for only $17 a day plus 17 cents a mile! They only made one thousand and one and all of them came with a Cobra 289 high performance engine that put out 306 horsepower, 0-60 in 6.6 seconds, top speed 117mph. Only fifty came in the Candy Apple red with side stripes like this one. The first 100 came with four speeds, but rental customers kept burning out the clutches so the remainder came with automatics. Original to the Shelby G.T. 350-H were the Goodyear Blue Streak tires, the Hertz Sports Car Club logo in the wheel caps, a functional fiberglass hood scoop and a tach on the dash. Our thanks to Barry Alexander of Alexander Automotive in Downtown Franklin, Tennessee for loaning us his gorgeous pony car. In 2006 Hertz and Shelby teamed up again to rent GT-H’s, but now the price was $189 a day! Check it out on PowerNation this week
